| Scenery on the Cotswold
Audax The Cotswolds is one of the most picturesque regions of the UK. The
rolling hills occupy a roughly triangular area of Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire
and southern Warwickshire, with Tetbury, Bicester and Stratford at its corners.
While sheep farms predominate in the higher wolds, the valleys form a rich tapestry
of hay meadows, woodlands and poppy-scattered cornfields. For a preview see our
Cotswold
Photo Album. Characteristic of the region is the beautiful honey-coloured
limestone used to build the ancient churches, pretty cottages and sprawling farms
that nestle amongst the hills. Beacon's Cotswold Audax events show riders
some of the best sights and most secluded lanes that the region has to offer.
Our HQ is about 35km north of the Cotswolds, so all the routes start and finish
in leafy southern Warwickshire -- very attractive cycling country in its own right.
The short routes (Cotswold Outing) then
skirt the edge of the Cotswolds, while the longer routes (the Cotswold
Journey and Cotswold Expedition) go
deeper into the region. |
