That was Gareth Scott. He finished 5th. Well done on your results.
200 points isn't it for cat1 ? I would agree that Rich is capable but it takes a lot to gather those and bearing in mind that at cat 2 you are often racing against 1's and elites.
National Trophy Ninth place in the penultimate round 5 took me to joint 9th overall in the series with only a smattering of points seperating myself and my closest rivals, Payton, Welburn, Webb, Cross. Ahead and behind this group there was a points seperation in excess of 20 points both ways. A good...
I decided to commit to enter the National Trophy series this year. Which I did. I decided to do some pre season cross specific training. Which I didn't. Was that a good idea. No. So no real surprise to find myself struggling a bit in both the regional and opening National rounds. Admittedly this yea...
Used to use a similar product in motorcycle enduro. Called a mousse they were a devil to fit, twice the price of the tyre and needed replacing fairly often. That said no **flat**s of course. When they became worn they made the handling somewhat unpredictable.
Quite possibly the most strength sapping course I've ever ridden. There was possibly about one 50 metres section where the bike would actually roll. Last year the same course was bone dry and super fast. Good old global warming. There were some funny moments though not least a fella doing a bike cha...
Thanks guys. perhaps Dave could let us know how we are doing on the marshalls front we just need to be sure were covered.
We are very grateful for everybody's help.
Dont worry Greg I've been awarded the role of finish line judge...gulp.
If its helpful, there will be plenty of Beacon riders to collar between 7.30-9am at tomorrow's audax. Perhaps there will but it's a lot to ask someone who's spent hours of their time organising the event to have to actively go out and recruit help. No marshals, no race ... isn't it. There are plent...

No don't worry Ruth, you covered the last one, but thanks.
Redditch r&p are seeking to have a meeting with some Beacon representatives to formalise arrangements for the organising and marshalling of our event with them on the 16th September. This will be the first race in the West Mids League. Two dates for the meeting have been proposed, either 6th or 13th...
Can I remind those already promised to marshal / drive and anyone else able to marshal tomorrow evening for our joint round of the South Staffs league with Halesowen to be at the headquarters which is now Bobbington airfield Dy7 5dy (Crab lane ) for around 6pm.

Can't wait to get to elite level then if that's normal lap times.
Spoke to Sean about the race-he did say that in the break of 3 he didn't get much help from the other 2.] I'm sure they were quite happy to let Sean do the work then take the sprint! That's racing isn't it if you let it happen. Some good strong riders in the top ten ,Sean's on good form, well deser...
[There is an opportunity next week where beacon are co running the enville race.] Sorry scratch that the above race is on the 19th July . They are a handicap race so accomodate all catagory levels from 4th to elite including pro riders occasionally. Usually 5 groups with 4th cats starting in the first two groups as a rule. Road races of 4-5 laps duration 30/35 miles total. If anyone fancys riding these it is very much appreciated (and...
Yep good to have a beacon trio in the top ten. Incidentally there was no group 3 on thursday due to the conditions and the race was shortened by a lap.
Beacon hosted a round of the SSSCCRRL on thursday last. Another wet and windy evening saw the usual handicap system changed to accomodate the short circuit. The first race was one group of 4th cat riders. Gary Mac and Greg both rode the race with Gary coming in 6th and Greg just outside the top 10. ...
The main problem with road tyres is the increased pressure they are run at. I use stans in my tubs and have **flat**d several times. The sealant worked but if i put more than 60psi in then it didnt hold. I switched to slime tubes for cyclo x after thorn **flat**s and it seemed to work (i didnt **fla...
I was talking about these to someone very knowledgeable just last week as i was thinking about trying them. Apparently you can set them up (by rotating them in relation to the crank arms) for hills, flats etc. But they dont do everything well. If you can push a big gear on the flat for instance then...
[What's the story on race license and entry, do you need to do both before or can I just get a provisional license and enter on night? Ive got gold membership on british cycling but not a license yet] Tim, Good to hear your going to have a go. Race entry varies but is generally EOL (Enter on Line), ...
