Sorry to hear about Dennis. The last but one of our founder members, We were the last visitors to see him before the lockdown. We will miss him. Our last founder member still alive is Harry Morris. He will be 90 in August.

Many of our older members will remember Mick Demouilpied who worked hard for the club over many years. I have just heard that his wife Nora has died .Her funeral is on Monday 20 th January 10 am at Lodge Hill Crematorium.

Just had a phone call to say that Don Harrison has died .I know he was in the Beacon for many years but I cant remember when. The funeral will be at Lodge but we dont know when yet. He was 80.

One of my many memories of Norman was cycling to the Castle Hotel at Rhayder at Christmas which we went to many times, and then over the mountains in all sorts of weather.

According to todays paper. A bike is stolen in the uk every six seconds new figures show. Thefts surged 17% from 80,309 in 2015 to 93,561 in 2017,reports the department for transport The true figure may be higher as many go unreported.

Another cyclist killed.

My son in laws manager was killed on the roundabout near Claines whilst cycling to work yesterday. 3 young children now father less .I belive that a white van was involved but not yet confirmed.

John Landreth

Just received an email to say that one of our old club members John Landreth died last Sunday November 5th. The funeral is on Monday November 20th 11am at Robin Hood Crematorium Hall Green. John and I spent 3 months cycle touring round Europe in the nineteen fifties. One of many memories.

I did say on the morning that I had been in the Beacon for 65 years but I was slightly out, it was only 63 years. But that still means that I was cycling with the Beacon long before you were born. Its a great life isnt it?

Peter John Baker the brother of Dennis Baker and a founder member of the Beacon RCC died this morning aged 85 death was due to cancer.
There are now only 2 founder members left Dennis Baker and Harry Morris.
