Just for the record, IMO I don't think sweeping the course should happen every year.... assuming someone is mad enough to try it again! Mud, leaves, horse S%&t are all par for the course. Gave up looking. Given the move to wider tyres, seems there is a big hole in the market.

I have hopefully solved it by managing to squeeze an old pair of wider sks mudguards under the brake caliper.
