That's very sad news Charlie. Benny was a very likeable bloke, and a real character, I spent many happy hours cycling with him on club runs, and yourself of course in the 80's. condolences to his family

You don't need disc's and carbon to win races at local track leagues, like Halesowen and Wolverhampton. Any reasonable pair of track wheels will do.
At the moment Ribble Cycles are selling Miche factory built track wheels for
£156.50 a pair, tubular or clincher

Just curious really, but is this event sponsored by Waldrons the haulage Co, their place is on the old A38 by Lidiate Ash. I used to race against Graham Waldron in 100c Kart Racing back in the seventies

George...........you can use campag ergo-power shifters with a shimano cassette, and rear mech you just need to re-space the sprockets. Have a look at Highpath engineering website........all will be revealed. I have used them and they are very good.

Well done to all, and as Ruth points out, it’s nice that the club has a junior champion once again, so special praise to Ed. Just for the record, the last time the club had a junior 25 mile TT champion was back in 2005 when my own son Philip won it, with a time of 1.14.02 on a very wet morning on th...

Ed.........Sounds like you had a very bad experience at Mallory Park. To be honest, when i took Philip there a few times, he really enjoyed it. The only comment he made, was that he found the tight chicane (The Bustop) between Shaws Hairpin and Devils Elbow a bit tricky. The problem being that Devil...

Having seen the blood bath at vic park a couple of times, if i was racing i would much prefer to go to Mallory Park anyday. A very nice place with a wide track and super smooth tarmac.......what more could you want.

The only downside is the 110 mile round trip from Rubery

Aparently his wife does all the spraying now..........makes a damn good job of it as well. I've seen quite a few of the track frames that she's done.....really good. Give the No a try. ...

George.......your right about the chain ring being 3/32" as its pinned and ramped. i was guessing about the chain size and just making a personal preference

Ruth.......i agree the chainring does look worn.....however modern outer rings look like that even when they are new

On a second look at the photo i've just noticed that one of the breaks in the chainring is right where the one shift pin is ! I would definately replace with a plain type of ring

Having looked at the photo i would agree with George in that there may have been some damage when you bought the chainset. So you should have no problem just replacing the ring. However, one thing that i would not be too keen to do, is using a pinned and ramped chainring with a 1/8" chain

Of all the things which can cause problems on a bike saddles come top of the list. In my opinion, and i totally agree with George, position on the bike is the biggest culprit eg, if your sitting too upright your putting far too much pressure on the saddle with the resulting numbness and pain. The ot...

Hi Paul........my son (philip) has been very pleased using schwalbe stelvios.....size 700 x 23. He has won 3 Beacon club championships since 2005 on the same set of tyres and without any **flat**s i might add......that must be a record in itself. Training Wheels

Colin whilst i agree 32 spokes maybe overkill for someone as light as ruth i'm taking into consideration that these are training wheels, where reliability and longevity are very important. The slight amount of extra weight that 4 spokes are going to make is obviously the trade off, and you are of co...

Wheels

For what its worth ruth i would go for a pair of hand built wheels, on the basis that you don't have to send them back to get them repaired, as with mavic factory built. Just make sure you use a good wheel builder, and you shouldn't have any problems. I would recommend mavic 32 hole CXP33 rims with ...
