Cycling in the south of France?
Debs and I haven’t been in touch lately because we’ve been a tad busy down here in the south of France. We could do with a bit of help for a few weeks and thought that some of you may have teenagers in the family or maybe you are teachers and have some time to spare yourselves. Dates would be from 2...

Richard, nearly everyone is staying at Pollensa Park but if you can find somewhere else in Peurta Pollensa then go for it. You'll still be able to join our rides and also to meet up for a drink in the evenings. It might be worth trying Alpha Rooms and Travel Republic to see if they still have any pl...

Just had a telephone call from Brian Rourke to thank us all for a really great night on Saturday. He said that he couldn't remember when he had been so warmly welcomed and he and Judith felt very much at home amongst us. He was feeling somewhat guilty at having gone on too long and admitted to getti...

Last winter I completed around 1500 miles on my Turbo and this year it looks like I'll have to sit on the *!<>%#!! thing even more as I have a shoulder operation coming up in a couple of weeks. Unlike some I don't mind these sessions (mostly at 06.30 before work) but only made endurable with the aid...

Laurence has got it pretty much spot on. You can check the single room supplement on Alpharooms or Travel Republic but I think it's about an extra 15 euros per night. The rooms are nice and big so if you can find someone willing to share you will have plenty of space. Bikes in rooms is a real no no....

The 2015 trip is going to be a bit different from previous years. Still at the Pollensa Park Hotel but this year on a DIY basis rather than me booking the hotel. Reason for this is that booking through an agent is virtually the same rate as with the cycling discount we get from the hotel. We have bo...

A quick phone call to Tamworth Services, they are now expecting us in the early hours. :D From our previous experience at the Tamworth Services there is very little on offer in the way of refreshment, so you may want to take your own goodies for personal consumption. Great pictures Ed. Deb and I had a fabulous three days. As we rode over Holm Moss on Sunday morning bound for Holmfirth it was a good while before we could ride down due to the thousands coming up. I'm also not to sure about parking and if it would be okay to leave cars in Becketts car park? On the basis that any cars won't be left until late Friday night and should be picked up by about 6.00am it's doubtful that anybody at Becketts would even know they were there. You could phone and check b...

Alan, glad you've taken up this mantle as I was certainly keen to do it again but haven't had the time to organise lately. So yes, put me down. We were back pretty early when we did it in 2012 so Keith would have plenty of time to ride back to Tamworth again and still do the Pretty Pig 200. Of cours...

Thanks all. Deb was down at the bottom doing a bit of shopping in Bourg D'Oisans when she heard all the sirens and inevitably thought "I hope that isn't Paul" I finally managed to get a message to her advising that I'd had a 'slight' mishap and they were going to check me out at the hospital. We got back early Sunday morning from a great holiday and thoroughly enjoyed watching the action on Alpe D'Huez. However I can't fathom why I was 10 minutes slower than the last time I rode it when I went up on Wednesday morning. My training was much the same, ride to work three times a week with th...
