Re: K36/4.5 12/08/20
Thanks I’m hoping to get there early enough straight from work. Are we racing without numbers?

K36/4.5 12/08/20
Hi,
Is the first rider off at 19:00? And if entries are online in advance are they automatically allocated a number?
Thanks,
Carl

Re: Help on '90s 'TT' build
Hi Dave,
Sorry I've only just realised you replied to my comments re: parts. They're all still available so PM me if you'd like to have a look at any of them.
Cheers,
Carl

Re: Help on '90s 'TT' build
Hi Dave, I've a pair of Cinelli Spinaci for 26.0mm bars that I'll sell, they must be c1995. As Pete said rims would definitely be alu; I started racing in '87 and all my bikes had alu rims from then. You probably want to look for a Turbo, Rolls or Flite saddle, they were basically what everyone rode...

Carbon frame repairs
Has anyone any experience (good/bad) of carbon fibre frame repairs?
I'm hopefully only looking at superficial surface damage not actually structural broken tubes but want peace of mind and a smart painted finish.

Re: Gorilla Coffee Cafe, Kings Heath
I can only vouch for the espresso and cakes being very good. They've recently improved the bike stands (which are always in view). Worth calling in if you're passing through KH but can get busy on a Saturday afternoon.

Just noticed this thread. As an ex-Shropshire lad you've picked some nice old familiar roads. I used to ride to Bala via Hirnant & Vwyrnwy and back over Berwyns and back to Shrewsbury as Etape training. And as a schoolboy we used to ride to the YHA in Borth one day and return the next. Jumpers for g...

Byways not highways
I'm thinking about putting my 'cross bike to more use than commuting and after some route ideas.
Has anyone suggestions on towpaths, gravel tracks, byways etc. heading south from Birmingham. I'm looking to make a 40 mile route similar to the Tour of the Black Country.

I'm at the same point in trying to work out the best solution but for a narrow corridor. I've a solid brick wall to mount brackets (and lock hasps to) and have found this so far: http://www.bikemation.com/gadgets/cycle-storage/horizontal-wall-mounted-bike-holder-rack/ The Tacx version looks good as ...

Tour de Yorkshire
Are any other Beacon riders entered for Tour de Yorkshire on Sunday? I can only see one other (Helen Jamieson) on the entry list.
I'm riding the 140km but will be in plain kit as the club summer kit hasn't arrived yet!

Fin at Bike Foundry taught me back in 2011. The course was over two evenings. I supplied my own components so I kept the wheels at the end. They survived a few years of commuting over Birmingham's finest pavé but now the rims are shot. I'm just waiting for some new rims to replace them. I've paid my...

I built myself a set of Ambrosio Zenith with Ambrosio Excellence at The Bike Foundry. The course was £50 and their Tool Club was £5/year. I've only trued them once after a couple years of commuting across the city. I recommend all of the above. I only chose Ambrosio over Mavic due to lots of pro mec...

Pat, I stripped the Veloce off mine and built it back up with the same Record & Neutrons off the Dogma. The only differences were bars, stem & saddle and even then it was less than 8kg. So, probably 500g for the frame & forks. But my new Dogma is barely UCI legal! The selling point for Pinarello for...

I had an FPDue last year following my Dogma 60.1 being totalled in an accident. Apart from a slight weight penalty and not having the full Italian glitter paint job they were almost the same. I was so impressed with the ride quality. I've since sold the FPDue to my brother who's been equally impress...

Well done Paddy and echoing many others, commiserations to John - you went down fighting. I never realised you'd held the trophy for that long; an incredible achievement. Ditto Nic's comment. I turned myself inside out today and never thought I'd ride a 3:35. Oh well there's always next year… And th...

Neil, "Whatever happens he will still be the winner in my eyes until he either admits he cheated or some real evidence comes to light. " Fair enough, I liked Pantani for his racing but not for his drugs. Armstrong will never admit to doping. He's never denied it either, just continued with the line ...

Carbon repairs
A friend of a friend has told me of a new company specialising in carbon repairs:

My Pina was beyond repair so I've no experience of them but handy to know for the future.

Hi Nic, I've run UT for years and it's probably the bearings. There's usually only a seal on the drive side and the non-drive side goes rusty. Have you stripped it down yet? I was paying £25 from a local 'specialist' but they weren't fitting genuine bearings, or even using the correct tools. After t...
