Main aim this year is TTs, but that said... will get back into some MTB and possibly SSRSSRRRLLLSLSLLL, Brum business park, depends on whether the road racing messes up TT plans! Interested in team events too like Brum Uni and Silverstone 9up!

If it's proper XC racing then a good start would be Midlands XC https://midlandsxc.com/ You can pick the level of ability you think you're at and compete in it. I've done it in the past. It's bloody hard! There's also a number of mid week racing events dotted around the place but probably not BC aff...

I have a Garmin and SRAM mount ... the SRAM is flimsy, slightly at an annoying angle and so low it rubs my Garmin on the stem bolts. The proper Garmin version however is spot on.

Several sets of disc pads in 4000 miles? Surely longer than that... on my old commuter I never changed them in 3 years + LEJOG, and transferred to my current Boardman. They've got about 9000-10000 miles on them. Are yours made from chalk ??? Having said that... they can burn out in 20 miles on a MTB...

I had swissstop on my older commuter and running discs on the newer one. Much nicer in the rain. No lag from wet discs plus you buy one set of wheels and never wear them out and rarely change pads. The whole thing locking wheels before losing brakes I doubt really ever happens on the road for the fr...

All a bit short sighted really... I'm guessing most people who take a bike on that train (outside of the car, etc) will be touring people. So big bike, mud guards, pannier rack, bags, etc etc.
