I'll give it a go... Andy have you watched the cycle show... I imagine it's something akin to the sprint challenge they have on there.

I've heard exactly the same stories about lvrc Alan, old farts who could barely walk out of the changing rooms but stick em on two weeks and they'll have you crying for mercy!

I am the right age group to race LVRC, I however choose to race BC events at this stage. That may well change over the coming years but whilst I still feel as though my racing ability, strength and bike fitness is on a relatively steady upward trajectory I'll stick to BC and have a crack at cat2.

Got an 8th place and 2 points on Tuesday, last night i was about 20th in a very scrappy race at Mallory pk. Bloody terrible position at the bell.. Gave myself far too much to do on the last lap. I'll probably have a bash at the Lichfield crits tomorrow actually.

I will however be racing there on Wednesday night and then probably Shrewsbury on Thursday. I do however think the whole experience is more e...

I agree with the other post, it's literally a case of getting in there and having a go! Having never raced on bikes before early April i was very anxious that i would be shelled out the back, wouldn't handle the pace and would find bunch racing too technically demanding. I have managed to surprise m...

RESULT: Shrewsbury Crits

I was feeling cautious for good reason during the warm up laps round this tight circuit today. It turned out to be a bit of a shit fest. 4 crashes in all. Thankfully my plan to get up near the front and just stay there paid off as all I could make out periodically were shouts and the sound of bikes ...

I had a crack at the b'ham uni crits today over at Tudor Grange. Got edged into 6th on the line but it's given me another 4 points which now gives me a tantalising total of 9 in cat4. I enjoyed the course, quick, a little twisty so there was plenty of acceleration out of the bends. Generally narrow ...

I faired a little better in tonights race. The field was slightly smaller, surprising given the weather, but still about 60 strong. Pace was a little quicker than last week...average was just over 25mph. A couple of prime laps saw the pace change substantially together with a few attempted break awa...

Thanks for the encouragement folks.... On the subject of the course and its perils.... Have a go at it! It's a good fast course... One tight chicane bend which can get hairy due to bottlenecking but it appears the sprint pile up was caused by reckless manoeuvring on the part of one chap. I'll certai...

RESULT: first race for beacon

I represented the club on thursday at the Mallory Park circuit race. There was a good turn out of about 70 riders. 29 miles on an, at times, blustery course. Needless to say there were very few break aways and there was the inevitable pile up on the last bend. Thankfully i managed to avoid the funky...
