I've seen this quite a few times with Aksiums. After a certain age the area around the eyelits seems to become brittle and fragile and prone to splitting . Wether it's through too much spoke tension, old age or lack of maintenance I don't know but quite often with the wheels in question the spoke e...

Mavic Aksium (rear) wheel -cracks
Checking out my road bike today i noticed some cracks on the rear rim around a number of eyelets. Have replaced the wheel but just wondered what might have caused it. I'm thinking it's either just wear, hitting a pot hole ! or most likely... over tightening the spokes....

Was there any particular reason why Saturday was chosen and not Sunday? To allow people to recover in readiness for work on Monday. A late finish on a Sunday night would not be a great idea for those individuals starting work early on the following day. This is the very same reason why the Kiddermi...

I can see no good reason to replace a helmet that hasn't been bashed. Are they trying to say that they 'go off' over time? I don't really have an answer to this observation by can only moot:- 1. The plastic outer shell becomes brittle with age. 2. The glues holding the various foam and shell sectio...

A 4am start doesn't much appeal to me. It implies getting up at 2am, which effectively means no sleep the night before the event. Also, I can't see the point: why start in the dark in order to avoid finishing in the dark? Besides, the originally suggested 6am start allows roughly 15 hours of daylig...

Cycling through Tanworth the other week i went past Umberslade Farm Park and noticed they have a cafe. Here is a link to their website. Looks like it might be ok for a shorter run. Menu looks good.

At work the other week we had a Health Fair day and throughout the day there was a cyclethon. Each entrant had a 10min slot to cover as much distance as possible in that time. The target to beat was set by none other than Roger Hammond. Now although it was only a bit of fun i did try my hardest to g...

I hate to stay this but, I'm no fan of Albert but to take on Armstrong/Bruyneel, and win, takes some bottle and mental strength (2009 TDF.) I doubt he was doping with the help of LA and Bruyneel, they were probably doing everything to stop him winning. I don't doubt that he has many admirable quali...
