And, don't worry, you'll be posted to a corner of your your own, which may be miles away from me.

Seriously, though, this is a fantastic event, and marshalling in the sunshine on a grassy hummock under the turning leaves is the least onerous volunteering job you'll ever do.

We had a big turnout for the combined Eroica+C run today. The weather was fabulous and there were some nice bikes on display. IMPORTANT! (For anyone planning to join us en route or at the café) After discovering that the café at Grafton Flyford is no longer open, I've changed the destination of this ride. It'll now go to Spetchley Park. First pick-up point remains unchanged (Wychbold church 10:15), but second pick-up will...

I went past the village hall at Grafton Flyford on Sunday, and there were no signs of life. I've since discovered a post on our own Fb page (went up while I was out of circulation, I think), saying that the café was closing for a while. Auntie Rita's will probably be packed, so I called Spetchley an...

Thanks for the advice. It was already in my mind to try and check, but I definitely will do after reading your comments. Is anyone who is going by car taking any WD40 or similar? Because the weather forecast for tomorrow looks pretty miserable, and I can't easily take water dispersing lube in my jersey pocket, and my bag has already travelled. So if I could scrounge a few squirts off someone, I would be very grateful.

You may be able to get cover under your home contents insurance. Whether it's affordable, I have no idea. And here's a radical thought: it may be cheaper to do without.
