Yes Barry but the time displayed is controlled by user settings of the person reading the posts, yours will be set to UTC not UTC+1. Blocking the road may be prattishness but I'd be more upset by the ganging up and abusing another cyclist while riding on the road. I think I'd be more inclined to complain to the club involved and maybe copy in the organiser.

I've never experienced it but when freewheeling fast down hill I tend to have the top bar between my knees simply because it feels more aerodynamic so maybe that prevents it developing in the first place.
