RESULT: Earlswood Triangle K36/4.5Cx2 TT 16 May 2012

Still waiting for Spring to arrive but this evening at least saw some good sunshine and calm conditions if still very much on the cool side. Ten riders turned out and it was great to see guests from four other clubs ride the triangle. Results as follows: 1 Steve Bull 21.30 2 Mark Cooper 22.20 Reddit...

How did you manage to capture so many smiles? There was certainly a great buzz around at the start with most putting on a brave face before they went into the unknown. Now I understand what gallows humour is. Wish I could have been there from the off. It got a bit trickier with time as I had to kee...

I've experienced a similar noise on a few rims and it's down to the way they join the ends of the rim section together at the factory. Some manufacturers use a sacrificial bracket, fitted inside the rim section which holds the ends of the rim temporarily prior to the main mechanical jointing. This b...

Shorter cranks offer a weight saving and improved clearance on cornering when chasing that demon descender down an alp. Simples

I fitted one on my Look ten years ago and no problems. imo it's a better arrangement than ahead system as a good quality threaded headset will last for years without need of adjustment whereas I find I have to adjust aheads every so often.

Funny you should mention that Steve. Like you I never bother changing cables unless I'm upgrading the kit. I had my first rear mech cable break on the March Hare a couple of weeks ago which was most inconvenient. It broke close to the nipple and was clearly on the way out for some time by the way th...

I've had a few frames done at Bournes, all with excellent results. I had one, a Peugeot tandem frame finished in metallic red which was barely distinguishable from a stoved finish. They usually have a few bike and motorbike frames waiting for collection so you could pop in to have a look see. I have...

Well my Etrex Vista arrived a few days ago. What excitement! Have set it up per Mr Cooke's instructions (well, 90% anyway, got a bit confused at the end) and ordered the Europe City Navigator dvd map. I will bring it all to Brecon and hope that messrs Smith & Terry may provide some instruction on th...

So much advice! All sounds v exciting if a bit scary. Can't say I've understood more than 10% of all the techno speak but as soon as my little box arrives I shall be round all of your houses like a shot with a translator in tow. Assuming I can find my way. Thanks again.

Thanks for the advice guys. I've plumped for the etrex as recommended and got it for £144 at Handtec. I have to say I was getting quite excited about...

GPS? - HELP!!!!!

Well I never thought I'd be saying this but I think I'm ready to go to techno hell and buy a gps. The reason? Deb and I are doing a short euro tour in April and I really don't want the hassle of carrying loads of maps etc. But the question is, which way to go? (pardon the pun) Garmin seems to be the...

Hi Darren, Like most things in life, there are many options for you to choose from and the best choice will depend on a number of things - your budget, type of riding, winter / summer use, possible racing / time trialling etc. etc. If you can get along to the club on Thursday night: http://www.beaco...

The Ride is a magazine. But don't be put off. It's not like any other cycling magazine you ever read. The articles are written by people passionate about the sport, from all over the world from the lowly club member to world champions. What they have in common is that they bring an insight into elem...

Powder coating is the economical answer. Bourne Powder Coating in Birmingham used to offer some great finishes including metallics that were difficult to tell from a stoved finish, and just as durable. The last frame I had done cost about £25 and that includes blast cleaning so all you have to do is...

Ruth I cannot reccommend too strongly the Campag Vento's, on offer at the moment at Ribble at about £117 a pair! The bearings are superbly smooth, the rims are semi aero and the alloy is excellent in terms of smooth and quiet braking. They look good too! I bought two pairs last year (one for Deb) a...
