Newtown Lane closed

This is the country lane out by Frankley, used as a return route from club runs. I went up there last night and at the junction of Yew Tree and Newtown Lane there's enough fencing to stop even bikes getting through. So if you usually go up Dayhouse on the way home and turn left, don't. :) It's close...

Planning on intro ride George. Not quite sure what my buddy should ride. He's quick enough for C run but not done that type of distance before so thinking intro is a safer first bet. Is it about 12mph average?

How many bodies would be interested in a Team Beacon this year? It's in mid-June and won't be vastly technical, could probably do it in a CX bike. :P

Always run mine as tight as possible... and usually prefer the lever about half way to allow for adjustment but enough release to let the wheel out when I need it.

I had the same issue and ended up bolting a plastic plumbing pipe bracket to the mudguard and cable ties to the pannier rack. No issues after a few years in all weather :)

CX are allowed btw James... and bar ends, no silly wotsit rules about tangling bar ends up. If you tangle and crash it's your own fault. :D Most people ride hardtails 'cos of the longer climbs, just depends on the course. Women race in the same event as the master males. XC doesn't tend to have much in the way of long real fast descents over rocks/trees, etc. The 3rd round at Pitcheroak is probably the closest to a XC race but missing the long climbs and more technical rooty stuff. Still a good taster though.

I got a £2 battery usb charger from hong kong! Put any AA batteries it, plug usb cable to whatever and it sucks 'em dry.
