Re: TdF Early Predictions?
PREDICTIONS Brailsford claims it's all in the past and we should concentrate on the racing in first press conference. Cav destroys all in first sprint, but falls off in second. Sagan has a new haircut, which matches the paint job of his frame. Contador disappears into the mist on the first hill, new...

CX tubless tyres
I seem to remember Nick making some tyre recommendations, but can't find the thread.
All this tubless stuff is new to me but obviously the way to go for CX, so recommendations for a decent tyre for a bit of racing and general muddy fun please.

Re: Kit order 2017
Andy, I have sent a text in relation to stock items.
The post says you do have some and to text you. No reply.
Does the club still have stock of winter jerseys or do we have to wait until a new order? Anyone know?

Club sessions at Derby are run during winter, so to late for last ones and a little early for next😁 Derby and other Velodromes like Newport, run regular taster sessions throughout the year, see their websites. Derbies taster session is also the first stage of the track accreditation process to get U...

Re: Beacon Track Championships 1st July 2-6pm
Flat shoes as in not road cleats. Trainers or mtb shoes or road shoes with cleat removed, up to you, high heels and long boots aren't the best  . Don't know if you have used clips, but a clip goes over the toe (hence clips) and a strap around the top of the shoe. When you do the session at Der...

A medium order 54cm should be fine for a woman 5' 8" , I have only seen a couple with women's saddles unfortunately and you aren't officially allowed to change saddles or pedals. You will need flat shoes as the hire bikes use straps and toe clips.

Re: Beacon Track Championships 1st July 1-5pm
To do individual pursuit I would say Tim is quite right even if you have never ridden fixed it should only take,1/2 hour or so to get the basics and I am happy to help with Gav to do that if we can have the track before hand. For any mass start racing then at least a basic one hour session and prefe...

Re: Feedback requested on bike safety guide
If commercial organisations want us to link to them then they should be paying, A quick read of their "guide " , unfortunately full of unsupported claims about clothing and helmets and poor use of dodgy statistics . Looks more like the Daily Mail guide to damn cyclists than anything serious or useful.

It's a pity sports funding is more or less entirely focused on elite adult sport, the Olympics and World Championship in cyclings case, as this means there is absolutely no interest in veterans by BC. As far as Sports England is concerned competitive cycling is for the under 40's, after that you're ...

I think the sessions at Derby will work best if all riders have at least ridden fixed before, perhaps at Halesowen. This will allow for two groups as we had last night interchanging between me and Gav, so we get a ride as well as coaching. But it's not essential as most competent club riders pick up...

Can't see why Stourport is any more or less dangerous than any other circuit. The Mammil is hard if you are coming to them with little or no racing in your legs since summer. There's an exception to the liability insurance whereby one BC member can't claim against another in a race, though. Don't you have to be a BC member to be in a race? so their insurance is basically invalid whilst racing. As an aside, I used to do mine via LVRC until they changed the cover to exclu...
See BC's cycling cover here https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/membership/compare See, that suggests that it covers competitive cycling, but then https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/thirdpartyliability states "Important exclusions include: One member against another in a cycling competition, race, tim...

They would also usually provide full representation if required for claims arising out of racing/co...
