Overshoes

Hi everyone,
After Sunday's club run, it has become apparent to me that I need a better pair of overshoes. Can anyone recommend any? Does anyone have any experience of neoprene ones - I want some waterproof ones, but concerned that neoprene might be a bit hot and sweaty.
Any advice welcome.
Thanks

Hi Chris, I had to do this yesterday - agree with the above, a small sideways wobble in the rim can usually be straightened out using a spoke key to tighten or loosen spokes. Identify where the wobble is, then use small adjustments (quarter of a turn at a time) of the adjacent spokes - if you tighte...

Steve - you could do worse than have a look through the CTC's pages on types of bikes and riding, link here: http://www.ctc.org.uk/DesktopDefault.aspx?TabID=3331

Thanks for all the replies - I must admit to hankering after a 705 but find it hard to justify the expense; mind you, not that much more than the etrex once you take the software into account... This is why I was looking at the older Garmins, but the 705 and etrex do look a lot better. Might have to...

GPS navigation

Hello, Thinking of investing in a cycle GPS unit. I want this more for navigation than for training - I do a lot of cyling on my own. Does anyone know whether the older Garmins (205, 305) are any use as navigation tools (ie can I download a route to them so that it tells me which way to go at juncti...

Quoting from another forum: "Don't expect them to spin freely as you describe. Those with sealed bearings will not do so unless the seals are worn out. The ceramic bearing type used by Shimano won't do so. Look for a smooth rotation free of obvious rough patches" This has happened to me on my old bi...

Hi Chris, I've heard from a few people in the Beacon and elsewhere that the Charge Spoon saddles are very comfortable - not expensive either. I have a Selle San Marco gel saddle which I've found comfortable - I only did the 150km though! - and like Steve I occasionally stand out of the saddle for a ...

I've got a couple of thousand miles on the set on my roadie, still going, but only couple of hundred on my knackered old commuter, and they now need replacing. Differences being - cheap blocks, old rims, all-weather use, more stop-start riding in town.
So no, Ruth, I don't know either!

Thanks for the tip Alister. They seem to hold their charge so far but I will keep checking. The were fully charged at time of purchase and I have recharged them once since then.

Just to update, eventually settled on Niteflux Vision Stick lights - first impressions are that they are very impressive. Two lights, one with a smaller battery (less runtime) for commuting, one with a larger battery claiming six hours runtime. One light is spot, one flood, light heads are interchan...

Front lights

Hi all, I do a lot of my cycling after dark, and unfortunately my front lights died on me yesterday, so I'm in the market for a replacement. I need something with enough brightness and beam spread to take me round unlit lanes, a proper headlamp. Market leader for this sort of thing seems to be the E...

I have Stelvios, very pleased with them, grippy, not too heavy, no flats in a year of use.

George - would it be possible to spray it yourself? It would mean stripping everything off the frame, I suppose, but would save the pennies. Read a post on another forum by a guy who did this - took everything off the frame, rubbed it down with wire wool, hung it on the washing line (really) and spr...
