No Martin I agree once it's got a big hole in it its dead. At lower pressures on bigger tyres it's not really an issue. I had a massive hole in one of my Trail Kings and was at the time pissed off that a nearly new tyre was ruined. It sealed though and I'm still using it a year later. i haven't expe...

I have the definitive on tubeless now. Just had a regular customer with Hutchinson Sector 28mm tubeless. Big hole so had fixed it with tube. So I took tuber out and replaced sealant (Stans) Hole was about 1mm,. It would seal this hole up to 70psi beyond that wouldnt do it. So there you go. You are r...

Tyres are getting much better though Alan. If you had got a major cut in a normal tyre you would have changed the tube tried to patch up the hole and limped home. With tubeless if the hole was too big to seal then you'd just use a tube and do the same thing. Ive had a couple of big **flat**s on mtb ...

Just as a note. I think 4000 miles for a pair of rims isn't that bad. How old they are is a bit irrelevant really. If you did 4000 miles in a week they would still be worn out. Also disc pads don't last long you will get through quite a few pairs of these in 4000 miles. So its not all win win. You d...

I've been giving it a go. Mainly because I couldn't get Swift to run properly on my laptop. its easy to find a route and if you link to Strava all your on road routes appear on it. You can either keep them private or make them public. The graphics are probably not as groovy as Zwift but they run fin...

As last year the two five mile events towards the end of the club time trial calendar will have the option of being ridden on retro machines. This year I'm going to change it slightly. Instead of the times being based on one ride on an old bike and one on a current bike. This year it'll be just the ...

I'm going to decide if a bikes eligible on the night. My definition is threaded steerer, no tri bars and wheels with more than 16 spokes. Roughly speaking this will date the bike in the late 80s. It was around this time that CTT lifted its ban on disc wheels and tri bars so the threaded steerer bit ...

In a way though it's worked out fine. All of the people in close competition for this trophy didn't ride it. Martin although in the lead at the mo has fast times for all the courses left so realistically probably won't win it anyway. So it's kept it all close. To be honest I'd forgotten about the 50...

I don't think it makes any difference whether it's carbon or alloy at that price. I really think if you were blindfolded you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Get 11 speed it's ace ! Can't actually tell any real difference between 105 or Ultegra. Off the peg bikes will have bars that are too ...

The rules state that a rider who has never ridden the course before can't receive a handicap time slower than the base time for the course. In this case 21 min. Even If you had received the base novice handicap for this course of 5:30 you still wouldn't of been able to get a time better than 21 min....
