Santini Cotswold Spring Classic
Myself and a friend did this sportive last sunday. It's based in Cirencester, and seems to be sponsored/run by Performance cycles in Poulton, so not a rip-off sportive by any means. Over 650 riders, most of whom did the easier 100kms route, but the 160kms is a very interesting course. Starts off qui...

James, I think Laurence has covered it all, and you will see the cost is £48 each, but no actions yet until we're in. There will be logistics costs also, of getting down there and overnight costs on the Saturday night as we'll probably be off before 7am. No arrangements have yet been made...it is qu...

Everybody has had long enough to view this thread now. Last day for entries for teams is tomorrow, so to avoid any last minute issues, Beacon RCC have entered one team, with the team self selecting as me, Laurence Cooley, Tim Egan and Alistair Hey. Hope no-one is put out with that! I have our one te...

Thanks, Laurence - good spot. So how do we select who's in? As I said, I'm happy to organise our entries but fully recognise others have an equal or stronger right to be included.... Perhaps those who entered but were turned down? Quickest riders to uphold the reputation of our club? Other criteria?...

RideLondon100 Beacon Club entry
It's clear that there are a few independent Beacon riders who have successfully got through the ballot for this August sportive but is there a chance for the Beacon Club to enter a team or two? I know there was one entered last year. I'm happy to organise if there's interest and/or we need an offici...

It's true that you need to register beforehand to pick up your timing chip etc, but last year you could pick it up anytime from Thursday morning at the Excel Arena, which makes it easier than a Saturday pick up. The event itself is on March 2nd 2014, a week after the Sunrise/Snowdrop Beacon Audax...two 75milers in 2 weeks to kick-start the spring. Compared to the other audaxes/sportives last weekend, I think I was a Billy Beacon No-mates on the Autumn Epic, but that should not distract from what a top event this is. A flattish first 15kms leads onto seven big climbs on roads with virtually no other vehicles, most climbs getting to over 400m e...

I read somewhere that bikes are renewed every 5-10 years on average by club cyclists, and therefore I guess there are 20+ new bikes purchased every year by Beacon riders.
