Yes it was from Nibali I believe. 8 uphill/mountain top finishes to go I think so I can't see Wiggins winning from here. The fall on Friday was a strange one, Nibalo fell and lost almost no time he was so quick getting back on, Wiggins was v slow getting back on (probably hurt more) but then I don't...

I bought an edge 500 off eBay nearly new and the hr &cadence sensors new about a year after getting my first road bike four years ago. Only really though been using it lots in last 6months since joining strava and getting SRAM easyview mount (£14.99) which means I can actually now see the info whils...

Action plan:- Decent race specific/speed training 0.5mph, right cassette 0.2mph, improved bike handling 0.2mph, shave legs 0.1mph?!? Birm uni race tomorrow would have been perfect follow up to try and ge...

Did it. Was completely out of my depth but still loved it. Think finished 3rd from last (of finishers). A 2/3/4 Cat Race is probably not an ideal first race of the season (and 2nd race ever). Think there were 4 or 5 other cat 4s and rest of field were cat2s and 3s. Started crazy fast and I went out ...

My time was 2 hours 7mins something and it did say that on the board. My garmin has 2hrs7mins45seconds and I started it 3-10seconds after starting and 1-3 seconds after the finish line. However, if you want to keep it at 2hrs32, I will look forward to taking the £30 next year for best PB when I go s...

What a stupid thing to say! I meant 35miles is plenty! Apologies for hitting the wall with 8miles to go. Big thanks for waiting up a few times nr end and to Ian for pacing me along.Tim wrote:I hope to be back this or next week. With Weston in mind the more miles the better for me!

Whats the sort of average speed on something like the Climb on Bikes Spring Road Race? Is it much tougher than a circuit race? I would def be interested in this and would be happy to pay like the Newport track sessions. Tudor Grange have floodlights now although there may not be many if any free slots. Two sessions were done in Nov 2009 see "Training" section and "Road Skills Sessions" EDIT: Seems there are sessions (Monday...

Thanks Jon, yep thought that would be the case as BBB is a third of price of dura ace. Similar sram price wise to BBB after quick search only have 11-23. Think I will look at doing more riding/miles as my priority! Not in a position fitness/time wise to properly give racing a go this year so prob wi...

Cheers Ed/Phil, thought so. That explains why I didnt win my one and only circuit race at Stourport last year! It seems in shimano you have to go to dura ace to get that cassette, is the BBB much cheaper option any good? So to have a go and be competitive at a circuit race it's not just the BC membe...

I have a compact set up, with 11-28 (I think!). Is 11-28 what most people use? I know it will depend on the riding you do, I want enough range to climb as well as be fast enough on the flat

Ken def give Stourport a go. I have only done one race ever, that was at Stourport last July on a Sunday morning. My understanding is you need British cycling membership and you only score points if you also have a race license. Going to get a license on off chance I get some points. You start as Ca...

I do actually enjoy the cleaning, I have strong OCD on the rare occassions I do clean anything just that as 95% of my rides are a 7mile daily commute (on my road bike year round, please dont tell me to get a winter bike, cant clean one road bike properly!) I dont have the time to clean it 10times a ...

Minimum bike cleaning routine?
Ok so my bike would win prizes for being the least cleaned/worse maintained! I occasionally (10-15 times in 3 and a half years) spray it down with a hosepipe, and scrub chain/cassette with a fairy/bike degreaser mix, dont allow to dry and stick some bike lub on chain (wet in winter/dry in summer); a...
