I've seen this dozens of times on Hope freehubs. The alloy would appear to be just too soft hence their steel upgrade for sixty quid. I've mentioned this to Hope who tell me it only happens with the cheaper cassettes which is frankly nonsense. It's a shame as their wheels are otherwise great.... A c...

Toby, your points are very valid. The Wednesday ride has lately turned a corner from sociable fast club run to full-on training bash/ chain gang. I think there are a few factors in play. There are new riders with a racing agenda in mind, guys are probably at their fittest at this time of year, the w...

Phil, that's really appreciated. In actual fact Doug offered me a lift only yesterday so I'm sorted at the moment. If all else fails I'll probably sleep in Doug's van where I can cuddle my bike. We have a super early arrival time to the point where there's almost no need to go to bed. If it falls th...

Well blow me down, my usual suite at The Hilton has been double booked and my chauffeur is off on paternity leave. Does anyone have transport to London on August 3rd returning on the evening of the 4th ? Does anyone have a spare sofa or floor in London for me and my bike ? Or know of somewhere cheap...

If it's a steel chain stay I'd be amazed if it was a hole. It looks to me like a stone or whatever has taken a chunk out of the paintwork. If it is a hole then I agree with Martin that it's probably always been there. If it's a carbon section of the frame that may be a different matter all together....

Well done guys, it was great to see so many Beacon jerseys flying past. I packed after three laps not feeling good. Doug was going nicely and right up there toward the front of the bunch for a good portion of the race and Andrew was looking very strong. A nice course and great conditions. Gutted not...

Well, I have to say, there have been some disgraceful comments regarding preparation. Les, surely you realise things have moved on considerably since the days of Brew XI and Double Diamond. Any true modern cyclist wouldn't consider a diet of anything other than Banks' Mild, a champions choice. Doubt...

Hi George, I use Campag Power Torque and Ultra Torque on my bikes. Both systems seem to work really well with no chain line issues. In fact it's possible to use both extremes of gears without a problem. As far as I'm aware most road bikes have a 68mm bottom bracket shell and have done for some years...

I've seen this quite a few times with Aksiums. After a certain age the area around the eyelits seems to become brittle and fragile and prone to splitting . Wether it's through too much spoke tension, old age or lack of maintenance I don't know but quite often with the wheels in question the spoke ey...

Adrian Timmis is a legend. His name, along with others like Tim Gould, Barry Clarke, Nick Craig, David Baker, Caroline Alexander and Isla Rowntree, make me go all misty eyed about the early days of British mountain biking. He actually posted on twitter earlier today about the 70w power increase. Hav...

There won't be the usual Wednesday ride this week as some of the guys will be riding the club TT. I hope to be at The Red Lion at 6.15 to meet up and ride down to the course with time for a warm up before 7.00. The plan is to do a short, easy ride after so bring some lights. The weather seems to hav...

What a great event once again. Huge thanks to John, the marshals, helpers and all envolved. Pleased with my time although being stuck behind a horse wagon for a mile or so cost me at least 1,37 ! Never thought I'd even get close to the 2 hour mark. Particular congratulations to Sean and Richard for ...

If it's a modern 105 crankset with hollow axle and external bearing bottom bracket the Tiagra BB will be fine. If it's an octalink or traditional square taper bottom bracket it won't. Broadly speaking as long as you have matching 9 or 10 speed components through out then mixing Tiagra with 105 shoul...
