And ... if you look at 12 best times for a club the Beacon comes in at 24th out of 118. No surprise, I suppose, that the big London clubs dominate - Dulwich, Kingston, Twickenham, Islington etc. By this broad measure, Beacon is top Midlands club in this event by a long way. Worcester 45th, Leamingto...

Just to give an idea how Beacon compared to other clubs, I put the results into my LMTT spreadsheet. This shows Beacon 34th team out of 368, based on the 4 fastest times for the club. However, this assumes that the fastest four from a club did actually constitute a team in the BC Club Challenge. Tha...

The Brompton race is at 7.15pm - a bit of an awkward time if you want to eat and get an early night. Anyway, it should be quite a spectacle.

Andy, is this B run suitable for those stepping up from the C run? Or will it be a hilly/fast one? I'll be aiming for a 'mid-range' B run - 60 miles at 15 mph. This one will have about the same amount of climbing as the Arley C run a few weeks ago. So not specifically stepping-up ride, but having s...
Spetchley
Anyone been near the Spetchley Park Gardens cafe recently? It seems to have changed hands and is now owned by Deli@Pershore. They did a nice bacon sarnie but that's off the (even posher) menu now. Nice garden, but with Worcester Country Park just down the road why would you bother?

If the Garmin is one with a barometric altimeter, Strava takes the data from that (unless you press the correction button): https://support.strava.com/hc/en-us/articles/216919447-Elevation-for-Your-Activity . Only if you upload direct from the device (which I don't) so it can detect the presence or...

Sorry my question wasn't clear ... but I think I found the answer anyway - fit a Garmin Edge 800/810 Silicone Case. http://www.wiggle.co.uk/garmin-edge-800810-silicone-case/ Regarding Strava - I think it works out elevation from route anyway and ignores what is in the FIT file. Which also explains w...

the 'water in the hole' problem
I am now the proud owner of a Garmin Edge 810 and last week got caught in a downpour and I think experienced the 'water in the hole' problem. The Garmin did not register any altitude change on the long and wet 500m descent.
Anyway ... is there any way of preventing this?

The 'fords' time trial - fact or fiction?
Recently, a local cyclist (who shall remain nameless), while competing on the K32/10 course, took a wrong turn and ended up submerged in one of the Shell Brook fords. I'm sure someone once told me that in the dim, distant past there used to be a time trial which actually crossed 2 or 3 of these ford...
