Newtown Lane closed
This is the country lane out by Frankley, used as a return route from club runs. I went up there last night and at the junction of Yew Tree and Newtown Lane there's enough fencing to stop even bikes getting through. So if you usually go up Dayhouse on the way home and turn left, don't. :) It's close...

Planet X are doing a nice exocet 2 for £1,500 with good groupset and their own brand carbon wheels. Also worth remembering expensive alu/ti is better than ch...

MTB Mountain Mayhem 24hr
How many bodies would be interested in a Team Beacon this year? It's in mid-June and won't be vastly technical, could probably do it in a CX bike.
I've registered interest with the organisers for entering a team.

I've had back problems for 15 odd years or so no -- seems to run in the family but have some tips! :) You say it's worse when seated on climbs. I've had this and you may notice, if you ever see me, is that my saddle point down a few degrees. It lightens the load on the discs by reducing the curve wh...

CX are allowed btw James... and bar ends, no silly wotsit rules about tangling bar ends up. If you tangle and crash it's your own fault. :D Most people ride hardtails 'cos of the longer climbs, just depends on the course. Women race in the same event as the master males. Sheffield is grass along the...

Midlands XC Series
So er... much to my amusement, kinda, Beacon RCC finished plum joint last this year in the teams category! Good effort by me to drive to sheffield then snap a gear cable and retire! Then fail to get to any more races. So how many MTBers do we have here, and how many CX bods have a bike and would giv...

Bar tape 'shape'
On my old bike I've just got standard alu bars which are round, not flat like some carbon bars on the flat bits. On my new bike it's flat... is this achieved just using gel pads under the bar tape? Do you place some on top, and twice as many on the front/back? Reason being I have nerve damage throug...

I got a £2 battery usb charger from hong kong! Put any AA batteries it, plug usb cable to whatever and it sucks 'em dry. Pretty useful, also means you can just keep buying batteries while touring if you're dying for power. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AA-External-Battery-Emergency-USB-Charger-For-iPod-...

I'm off to Germany to see family and wanted a small area of maps on my Garmin for some local training routes. The below site was pretty easy to use, allowed me to create a map file for just the area I wanted and just copy/paste to the Garmin and boom worked. Simplez, free (can donate) and up to date...
