Re: Club runs - 10th September

A fairly uneventful ride. On the way out mist turned to drizzle then light rain, but stopped as soon as we put our rainwear on. As advertised a relatively hilly route out, with the return leg somewhat easier. At least te hills protected us from the wind some of the time. On the ride were: Phil Games...

Re: Club runs - 6th August

I hadn't been expecting many on the B run today because a lot of people would be on holiday - how wrong I was. I think 15 or 16 of us set from the Black Horse. One person apparently **flat**d very early on (before the Man on the Moon), but no message was passed forward and we didn't stop. Our second...

Re: Club runs - 6th August

Here is the route for the B run to Warwick.
http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/beacon-rcc-warwick
This is actually about 63 miles, but can be shortened by a couple of miles on the longer outward leg if we want to.

Re: Club runs - 6th August

In the absence of anyone else I am happy to lead on Sunday, but as this would be my third B run lead in 4 weeks other people might like a change!
If do lead then I propose going to Warwick, which will mean about 55 miles and a middling amount of climbing. I will post a route nearer the time.

Re: Club runs - 30th July

The B run encountered rain before we got to Evesham. What started as a drizzle became proper rain, followed by a downpour. And then 3 minutes later the roads were dry and the sun was shining. I think everyone had dried about by the time we left the café. We had one new rider today (Will, I hope you ...

Re: Club runs - 30th July

I have decided to use Neil Lynch's route from 21st May - https://ridewithgps.com/routes/20064699 Unless there is a preference for Raphael's we will stop at Hampton Farm Shop after about 37 miles, otherwise we will stop at Raphael's a mile or so later. Total length 65 miles or so. I am guessing that ...

Re: Club runs - 30th July

I will lead to Evesham. Not being a great fan of Raphael's Plan A is to stop at the Farm Shop that we went to a couple of month's back, but if the group as a whole wants to go to Raphael's then it is OK. Either way, expect a route of about 65 miles that will almost certainly return via the Lenches. ...

Re: Club runs - 16th July

The B run to Croome Park was pretty uneventful, apart from the vast numbers of other bikes on the road. Apart from joining the route of a sportive once if not twice, we also got passed by the Saracens and a group from Halesowen (the average age of the Saracens was probably three times that of Haleso...

Here is my route for Sunday - http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/Be ... roome-Park
This is 62 miles (100 Km) and according to Ride with GPS has 3,200 feet of climbing. [A relatively flat club run is about 2,400 feet and a hilly one 4,500 feet.]

I'll lead the B run to Croome Park. I will post a route in the next couple of days, but I expect it will be around 65 miles and not particularly hilly.
Pace will be determined by the group as a whole.

Thanks for a good route today Phil.
It there may have been a bit more than the odd pimple but it was nice to use some unfamiliar roads and see some great countryside.
I hope everyone made it home after some people followed Neil who was not going to the Black Horse.

I will use Si Walker's route from six weeks or so ago: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/19694096

This is about 55 miles and is one of our flatter routes, once leaving Birmingham gently losing height to Charlecote and then gently gaining it again on the way home.

Re: Club runs - 11th June

I am willing to lead the C Run to Charlecote tomorrow. I don't know what the turnout will be tomorrow, but if we have a reasonable number of A and B riders at 9:15 who didn't fancy / know about the 8:15 start / 100 mile rides, then it may be worth having two 9:15 rides. So if any one else wants to b...

Not sure if this is the best place to highlight this, but there are currently roadworks / traffic lights on the route of the time trial this Saturday (18/03/17) - going down Church Hill to the left turn onto Icknield Street.
I think they are resurfacing the pavement and are due to finish on Friday.

Actually the four riders were dropped some miles before the café. With large groups it is difficult for the leader to know if there is a problem at the back, so if anyone else realises that others are getting dropped they need to let the leader. This applies particularly when the those at the back ...

I am willing to lead the B run. I don't think the B run has been to Wyre Forest Visitor Centre for a while. The route (about 55 miles) is pretty hilly on the way out, less so on the way back.
