I am a triple user, and what I find is that I spend 90% of my time in the middle ring, using the middle 6 cogs of the rear sprocket i.e. in the range 49 to 73 in. If I had a compact, I would be switching back and forth between small and large rings to achieve the same effect. http://andyterry.com/im...

Would be interested to hear how this gpx looks when loaded into athe Edge 500 given the mapping capability (or lack of) equates to my old eTrex and the Forerunner 305. http://andyterry.com/misc/test.gpx It wouldn't load for what ever reason, but you could open it in EasyGPS? I also don't like having to switch it on, then having to press start before it will start recording. Then press stop, then press Lap/Reset in order to save the data, then switch the unit off. The Forerunner 305 works the same way. Really annoying when I'm used to the eTrex Summit which is recording...

I've taken my bike on a plane loads of times using a padded bag, with no real damage beyond the cosmetic. I put the wheels in their own bags either side of the frame, and wrap the rear mech (and any other fragile bits) in bubble wrap. Fill out the rest of the space in the bag with shoes, helmet, too...
