Excellent turnout.

Hats off to Martin for being so consistently competitive throughout the year, at all distances and on all types of course. I also note that Alistair is moving up quickly through the rankings; watch out those currently ahead!

Is this a good time to ask what is possibly a very stupid question? Why is it roads and not road in Beacon Roads Cycling Club?! There is much confusion about that, Tim. I have asked (near-)founder members and generally found their responses vague or otherwise unsatisfactory. The best explanation I'...

Being a little 'challenged' in matters pertaining to punctuality, I am not unused to arriving at a club run destination to discover that everyone has already gone. Sorry, I'm going to disagree with most of you in one way or another. It isn't exclusive to cycling; it isn't even exclusive to sport; it isn't a class thing and there is no clear grammatical reason that I know of why one should use an article or not use an article. As others have said, it's very com...

Cycling weekly a shadow of its former self. Can't be bothered to read it any more. Ditto. 90% of content is just thinly veiled advertising or a hook on which to hang advertising. finding old rides on Strava

Sometimes, when I'm planning to go somewhere, I would like to check what route I took last time (possibly in the context of a ride to a different destination). However, I may only have a vague recollection of when the last time was, or whether I'm actually thinking of the last time or the time befor...

Shoe closure systems

In the last couple of years, various shoe manufacturers, e.g. Spiuk and Diadora, have introduced shoes with a closure system that involves a sort of 'wire lace' that you tighten with a little dial, instead of the ratchet-and-lever arrangements that have dominated for the last 15-20 years. I have no ...
