It's gravel all the way to CdBarnes. Although it does get a little muddy and sketchy at points. I'd recommend sticking to back roads, as it does go through some quite unsavoury areas.

Can't see any of the suggestions being objectionable. A Lantern Rouge is probably better off on a C or intro ride, I've not seen a need for it on an A or B run, although it can be a problem sometimes when people drop off the back without letting the group know to ease up. I can only think of a few o...

Today's A run was very sparse... James Tate (L) Matt Clegg ...and that was it, just the two of us. It ended up being a full 100 miles with 2500m of climbing, so not an overly easy day and poor Matt was feeling it towards t he end. I think the LEJOG was finally catching up with him, but we made it ho...

Not sure why Les has the impression that the sport is dead in the UK. My own observation is quite the opposite in fact. Every race series, one off race , CX series and TT I've entered has been fully subscribed with often a long list of reserves. Far from being in decline the sport is the strongest i...

Today's B run, small...compact and thankfully uneventful (troublewise). Riders were:

James Tate (L)
Claire Fudge
John Soady
Robert Wade

We only got a little bit wet despite riding under heavy, black clouds all day.

Yep 60mm conti tubes are fine. The valve hole can be fairly large and the valve stem rattle a bit, so I always used the threaded 'nut' that comes on most tubes to clamp it down a touch, just to stop the noise.
