cafe

Fisheries, on Ditchford Bank Rd.

Popped in last Sunday, cyclists welcome, CTC use it, but a bit on the small side. Would be good as an intro stop. Did not eat, but a large mug of tea 50P. Also met someone from the Speedwell, only about 6 members left.

as probably the slowest rider on club runs I do find myself off the back more often than not, and agree with Helen, it is not the best place to be when you are struggling. When the going gets tough and the group spreads out it then becomes even harder for the slower riders at the back. (believe me I...

I have now come to the conclusion that my main problem is me! I do struggle on hills, and I must face up to the fact that I am not the age that my head thinks I am. (74 today) The other problem I have, particularly in a big group, if I drop to the back it is a constant playing catch up. I do agree t...

Steve, yours are one of the runs that I try to get out on. The pace was fine and not hilly. I stayed behind for a little while chatting to Debbie and Paul. Then started to chase you down, went round a bend and you had gone. Think you maybe went via Packwood House. So for once I wasn't dropped, just ...

Is it just me getting slower (very likely) or have C runs been getting faster/harder this year. I tend to ride by myself most Sundays as i have been struggling a little on club runs. This is not a complaint, and i do realise that i am in the minority. I do not mind in the least being dropped on the ...

Destination

Hi. Andy.
Revills farm shop at Defford (nr. Upton) is a cycling friendly café, it was our first stop on my 100m ride last year, and I clocked just 32miles from the Black Horse. Don't know if it has ever been a Beacon destination.

road safety

Just back from 2 weeks in the USA and was able to follow the speed limit debate. All junctions over there have a stop sign, and the penalty for not stopping is a hefty fine, I think it is about 250 US dollars. The police are now enforcing this law more rigorously and their advice is, stop and count ...

3 laps of the TT course, as the old Manx International. But I guess the logistics of getting everyone over there and back rules this out. Shame.

Nice pics Paul, thank you. But everyone looks remarkably fresh, maybe we didn't try hard enough. This was a journey into the unknown for a few of us, but for anyone wanting to do a similar ride, don't be put off by the distance. It is the speed, (or lack of it) particularly on the hills that makes t...

I've had it in my head for some time that i want to ride 100miles in a day. (the last one was about 55 years ago.) So have now set a date for 11th August. At the moment i am looking at a route via Meriden and out towards Leicester, then back via Charlcote. 3 stops and a very easy pace, 11 - 12 mph. ...

Canyon bikes, which are only available direct from the factory in Germany are now offering what they call "sponsorship" which i guess means discount, to riders who hold a racing licence. As long as you use a good quality blade you should be ok. Blades from DIY shops tend to be quite flexible and more difficult to break. But what i would suggest is a 32 teeth per inch all hard blade.
