Today's A run to Evesham was fast and flat(ish) as we avoided the lenches and found some uber smooth tarmac. Thx to all for the top banter and especially Alistair for helping pull on the front on the way home. Today's A warriors were: James Tate (L) Alistair Hey Philip Whitman Ian Simpson Ben Walmsl...

Round 5 last night was the Huntingdon Course up near Cannock. This is a fast flowing course with long straights, one minor hill and a very fast downhill section. The race didn't start well for us as group 1 was as disorganised as usual, with only a few guys willing to do turns at the front. I got a b...

Having missed the last two rounds due to work I managed to get out again tonight for round 4 of the series. Tonight was the turn of Bridgnorth, not a course I particularly like as it's quite lumpy, has a very bad surface in places and has a nasty sting in the tail of each lap in the form of a steep ...

I'd also like to echo Phil & Nicks points. The regular rider leaders can be counted on one hand...and this is not good enough. I'm all for voicing different opinions, but when one shouts from the sidelines at people who are stepping up to plan and lead rides, it's rather rude. If people want a short...

SSSCCRRL 2016 Reports
Round 1: ======= Nice weather for a change, about 18c with clear skies and a light breeze. Both myself and Laurence were in group 1, so started in the first wave on the Knighton course which is one of the faster ones. The first few laps were fast with myself and Laurence doing the majority of the wo...

You will probably need the new wheels anyway if you're going from a 10-speed to 11-speed cassette. You can also look at EDCO monoblocks which are 11s but work on 10s hubs. I use one for my disc wheel on the TT bike and it works flawlessly. They are expensive (£160), but cheaper than buying a new wh...

Helen, To go from triple to compact you will need to replace everything, shifters, mechs and probably cables, but if you buy a groupset whole (as in a kit where everything is included in one price) , then all you need to worry about if fitting it all. New bartape will probably be needed as stripping...

Due to the flooding in the lower areas down near Charlecote over the last few days I've prepared an alternative destination: https://www.strava.com/routes/4328786 This takes us up towards Cannock and a Cafe called 'The Mess' at Brewood. A consensus will be taken on the day as to which route is chose...

Zwift wins hands down on usability. I might use Bkool more (at least the 30-day trial) if I can find a way round the high resistance thing. I'll maybe do a bit more experimenting. There is a slider in the app that allows you to drop the resistance by jumps of 25%. At 75% it feel more like actual cl...

Also tried the Bkoll 30 day trial. I only wanted it for the videoed climbs (like Ventoux and Alpe D'Huez) where they ride up the climb on a motorbike and video it. The video frame rate is then sync'd to the speed of the trainer to make it look like you are climbing the real road. The resistance is a...

I ride it with a smart trainer and whilst it's good...it's not perfect by any means. The resistance is too light at the moment and I can easily spin out in top gear on the flats on my CX bike (which I use for turbo work at 46x11 top end). Zwift has said they are going to introduce a resistance slide...

Been hit twice. First time was a minor trip to A&E and a smashed up bike. The second was a case of hedge diving when my elbow was clipped by a mirror. I don't feel nervous about riding on the roads, however I probably would feel a lot more anxious if I commuted as the loonies seem to come out in for...

I ride my CX bike with Canti's in the wet and as long as you have a quality set of pads it's just fine. Swissstop Green's or Koolstop Salmons are the best for wet weather riding and give great modulation and feel in both dry and wet conditions. I'd recommend you buy a set and try them before spendin...

B run to Pershore was uneventful on the way out, but on the return journey we had a small accident where Dave ended up hedge diving.
