Re: Time trials - July, August and September 2017
It would be fab to get even more going to hillclimbs next year - start contesting some team prizes!

Re: Return of Club Trophies
Ahhhh dangit. I secured the hillclimb cup this year but I'm at a family wedding in Wales on the 2nd December. As much as they've conceded to my riding this season I'd be crucified if I missed it!

Re: Time trials - July, August and September 2017
Not a big one but it looks like a bunch of Beacon climbers are going to be at Gorcott Hill tomorrow (Tuesday) at 1830 for Reddich Road and Path CC's HC. Should be fun.

Re: Time trials - July, August and September 2017
How was the Winwood Heath hill climb Dave? Ready for club champs?! Great actually - the field was only 5 wide including me which helped my 2nd placing a bit! Phil Whiteley from Worcester St. Johns CC won with 3:08, 10s ahead of me. Ready to shave a good chunk off on the 17th! Just need to learn to ...

Just found out that the Midlands CTT site is wrong (quel surprise) - BOCC's Hillclimb will not be on KH11 (gorcott) but KH12 (Winwood Heath) tonight at 7. Which is a good thing, right?

Re: Time trials - July, August and September 2017
Had a crack at Burton Dassett hill (KH5) yesterday, hosted by Banbury Star CC. Clocked 1:13 (Joint 6th) which I'm a little miffed about - I was certain that the CTT route ended about 200m further on than the finish line was at the end of a flat section. So I prepared to make up time on the sprint to...

Re: Time trials - July, August and September 2017
Gonna go to the following this week - anyone else? Nowt overly exciting but half-decent warmups to the HC season. Banbury Star CC Hillclimb on Burton Dasset hill (KH5) tomorrow (Weds 23rd), 18:30. Planning to take a train from Moor Street to Leamington and ride over, seems like the cheapest / shorte...

So here's the SR Litage as it stands, shined up nicely (albiet after 6 hours with the dremel and some polishing paste). Still a ways to go to get a mirror finish on some of the lugs but I might leave it as it is for now. http://i.imgur.com/7c6uN8p.jpg Managed to get hold of some Shimano 1055 Downtub...

Re: Time trials - July, August and September 2017
Great plan Dave :D hill climb season is nearly here! Have you got national hill climb champs on your list as well? Think we talked about it a few months ago - you'd need a good couple of placings at open events to qualify but would be a cool goal :) Yep - Nationals are definitely on my list! Got ma...

Re: Time trials - July, August and September 2017
Here's my current (semi-provisional) list for August and September. Some of them are are a bit of a pain to get to when you're carless so we'll see. It shouldn't come as much surprise that these are all Hillclimbs! August 23rd (18:30): KH5 Burton Dasset hill (Banbury Star CC) August 24th (19:00): KH...

Nice! Thanks Carl. The Spinaci's look interesting! My bars are 26mm around the clamp area but drop off to 24mm otherwise - they may well fit. Are you in Stirchley? How much would you want for them?

Help on '90s 'TT' build
Eh 'up. I was recently given an interesting bike that I'm now in the process of restoring to racing glory - a '95 SR Litage built by the old Suntour factory in Japan. Its a bonded alu frame and forks, all naked metal (Shining up a treat!) with some nice touches like hidden cable routing and some bea...

First time a world champ has been kicked out since the Festina affair in '98! DQ is too much for a sport that has happily turned a blind eye to practices that made it more exciting for spectators at the cost of rider's health since the very beginning. Is this DQ being used as a way to help shore-up ...

Came 8th with 60.2s. Bizzare climb that was over just as my heart rate got into the swing of things - hard to feel like you didn't work hard enough when the whole race can be done without a real oxygen debt! Really good atmosphere with a whole heap of kids from Matlock CC racing the hill (some of th...

Looks like I'm the only Beacon hillclimber off to Winster on Monday - not surprising as its a long way to go for (hopefully) less than 64s of racing! Start sheet looks interesting - the scratch rider is Mike Morris who placed 18th at the Nationals last year, 5th back is John Johnston who placed 31st...

So I've just seen the new kit and while the colours look good and vibrant and the fit looks contemporary, it seems a shame that the italic type face has been retained on the front. Anyone interested in having a go at this? Not particularly long or high but steep enough to be fun - should be pretty fast. Bloody 'orrible, and I mean that in the best way. I blew up more times than I cared to count on the 3rd lap and the weather at the top on my first was so bad I had an existential crisis and wondered if I'd either missed the turn or had ceased to be. My goal was to come in under 2 hours and 'not be l...

Anyone ridden up this guy here?: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Dun_Fell There's a road from Knock (close to Penrith) that ends up on a service road to the radar station that apparently is closed to vehicles but open to cycles and in really good condition. At around 800m ascending its about as ...

Hey all, I've decided to have some fun and put together a hill climb bike this year rather than adapting my usual ride. Hi Jess For the national hill climb you would likely need to have three good results (top 20% ish) in competitive fields to get in. John Hunt did exactly the same last year - he entered open events for the first time last year with a view to getting good placings in those to get into national hill c...

Club champs hillclimb question
Hey all,
I'm new to this (only joined a few months back) and would like to have a crack on Winwood Heath road on the 18th - what do I need to know / do as a first time participant of a club TT?
I know the area well but where do we usually meet and at what time?
Cheers,
Dave
