I do not place myself at the top of Lance's fan list, however I think that it is better to reserve judgement until all the evidence has been heard and the verdict has been given. We must remember that he is innocent until proven guilty beyond all reasonable doubt.

or it was just the wind? Wind and cold make a huge difference to riding long distances. I recently rode the Droitwich-Towcester audax into the the teeth of a strong east wind. The journey took 4.5 hours outbound and 3.5 hours on the way back! The only times I have managed a sub-8 hour 200km audaxes...

- having heard of instances of dangerous gear jumps on a compact gear arrangements (ok on a normal race gear set up).

George's 200km route is absolutely dashing and deserves commendation. The half-way control is located in a chocolate box of the village, plus I note that he has revised the route on the second stage to include the road overlooking the Winchcombe escarpment.
