Yes George, we rode around those parts 5 years a go. You can still see my tracks via gpsies: http://www.gpsies.com/mapUser.do?username=slogfester Hilly and mountainous- although my Swiss friends would dismiss them as 'little bumps'! We were advised not to ride through one large valley in N. Hungary ...

I only know this route, 56 km:

but I read there is a longer route? Are we doing that now? If so, some one got the route.... for when I get dropped!

Many thanks for detailed reply Phil. I'm not in the least surprised you have done the route and have a encyclopaedic memory and analysis of the details. I may now ride it West to East on Monday, weather permitting (its looking dodgy at the moment), so would that have a significant effect on route se...

Birmingham to New Quay Wales
I'm thinking of doing this  (friends live there) and need a route. Looking at the route of the recent Elenydd ( http://www.audax-salop.talktalk.net/elenydd/route_map.html ) I could pick it up at Mortimers Cross and follow the route as far west as possible. Cyclestreets fast uses the same rout...

For those going to Majorca and who are not using Garmin (or even those with Garmins!), I have ripped and converted the routes described in: http://www.demon-cycles.co.uk/bmc/bi-po/ to gpx here: http://www.gps-sport.net/users/Slogfester (bottom left box ' navigation routes', all routes prefix with MA...

Thats another fine mess you've got us in to
So, washed the bike and packed it up in a soft bag ready for Majorca :) Without thinking (I'm good at that) I unscrewed the rear derailleur (Ultegra 6800) in order to protect it from dropping during transit. Good move hopefully. But I remember last time I did this I couldn't get it back on because i...

Andy et al You can not drag routes (like google) in the route planner/manager of www.gps-sport.net, but you can delete bits in the middle and then insert follow-the-road sections: - select the section you want to change - delete - then make sure 'insert points on track' (=middle of track) is selecte...

Probikekit/Deda have accepted my warranty claim. Would like a replacement carbon seatpost (I like the flex) but mindful of Chris' comment.
Try and squeeze a shim thinghy in there? And/or a beefier carbon seatpost? Recommendations please with 20-25 mm set back.
Or throw the towel in and go Ti?
thanks

How do I save and download these routes to a gpx file on my computer via Garmin connect? http://www.demon-cycles.co.uk/bmc/bi-po/ I do not have a Garmin device, but have just created an account so I can at least import and view the routes within Garmin connect. But for the life of me I can not find ...

Cracking route again this year with about the right mix of climbing. Got a fantastic tailwind about half way round, rode most of the route on my own, just to avoid any sillyness on the hills, completed it in around 3hrs 30mins, still too exhausted to download the file.. Very impressive time Ed, esp...

Thx for comments. Interesting. So do you think the left is no good. Blimey, less than 3000 km. The picture shows the only damaged part of the tyre. The rest is OK, just worn down. Do you rotate tyres?
Surprised to find a significant difference in wear on my tyres (Conti 4 seasons 700 x 25) after just 2800 km. Or, put another way, the front looks hardly ridden! Normal? (I have not really run a 'winter' bike here before). I guess there has been more than usual rubbish on the roads this year. Do peo...

Thx Steve, I see it too. I purchased via probikekit. I'll try my luck with a warranty claim. As well as carbon paste I think I have read that you can use some sort of ...

Alan had hypothesised that I may have purchased a slightly under sized seat post. Quite feasible given my lack of technical finesse. But I have double checked and both seat post and inside tube diameter are 27.2 mm. Torque wrench is calibrated and I have never over tightened anything else before; I'...

Mild seat post panic
Mild panic this afternoon. I have been suffering from a slipping carbon seat post (Deda Superzero) in my titanium frame. Applied some carbon paste to increase friction, but still slipping a little. I feel it in my knees first and cant climb as fast! When I adjusted and re-tightened today I heard tha...

Its always puzzled me why 40+ year old riders want to pitch themselves against people half their age. In Oz races are divided and started by age and ability. IMHO this makes much better races. It just aint no fun having your arse whipped by someone half your age. I had a look at LVRC a few years a g...

Can anyone recommend some 700c wheels for light touring? I'm currently trying to spec my Van Nicholas Yukon (c/w/ 11 speed Ultegra) for fast(ish), light weight, credit card touring. Bike+bits is currently about 9kg. I'm 80 kg (give or take a donut or two  ) and I will be carrying no more than ...

gps-sport route planner has 7 'Routing modes': beeline (straight line), foot, bike, racing bike, mtb, car, car(shortest). You can switch between all 7 when using 3 create/edit methods: insert points at beginning, between, and end of track. Like you, I dart between all 7 x 3. N.B. Recently I have fou...

I think this is fairly new?

Based upon OSM. Their 'circular route' mode is promising. I have already successfully used it once.
Route and City Guides worth a look too.
