Is there a doctor in the house?
I have just had a back operation technically called, bilateral l4l5 decompression via slip osteotomy, and I am now anxious to know when I can get back on my bike. At 81 I know age is against me, but one doctor I spoke to said not before 2 weeks and another doctor said not before 2 months. Help. Which one is right?
Impossible for anyone else to give you the advice, even a doctor, without knowing you and exactly how the surgery went etc. You need to follow the advice of the surgeon or physios if you have had any post op (hopefully you have).
Having said that I would have thought it depends on the type of cycling, gentle on a static bike or turbo trainer with a step to aid getting on and off maybe two weeks sounds appropriate, on road gently 6 weeks sounds more correct.
I hope your recovery goes well.
