THE AUDACIOUS AUDAX ENTRY LIST - KK and FC2H audaxes
You are all invited to enter the Beacon's most audacious event for 2015 - now with improved cake
25th JULY - STARTING FROM BELBROUGHTON REC
THE KIDDERMINSTER KILLER
This audacious audax has a long history and the Beacon RCC is proud to continue with and to develop the event. This epic event follows a stunning but vertically challenged route: Out via the Stretton Hills; crossing the border into Mid-Wales; and back via the escarpments facing over The Marches. 212km in length; 3,750m of ascent; 3.75 AAA points.
Belbroughton – Wenlock Edge - Acton Scott - Long Mynd - Montgomery – Clun - Ludlow - Stanford Bank - Belbroughton
FROM CLEE TO HEAVEN
This ‘Figure of 8’ audax is aimed at riders seeking a shorter but challenging ride. It incorporates spectacular views and tranquil lanes clinging that cling to the side of the Clee Hills. What a great way to see Shropshire’s legendary blue hills of A E Housman fame! 120km in length; 2,000m of ascent, 2AAA points.
Belbroughton – Wyre forest – Rays Farm – Clee Hills - Rays Farm – Highley – Belbroughton
CHANGES FOR 2015
- New faster service at Acton Scott
- Improved route into / out of Belbroughton
- New cake supplier

LATEST KK AND CLEE AUDAX NEWS
Well all things are running hunky dory at the moment.
THE FIELD for 2015 has broken all previous records. From Clee to Heaven is now over-capacity with seventy registered entrants. We are only allowed sixty at Rays Farm, oops! The Kidderminster Killer has eighty riders and I am happy to take a further five.
FOR 2016 I am considering a third audax as an addition to the current duo. It will be slight variant of Clee to Heaven but three nasty little horrors: Two ascents up Brown Clee on private roads with a gradient of 25% and; a third ascent up Titterstone Clee. This all depends upon gaining land owner's permissions for the Brown Clee ascents. Oh, and the name for the new event "The Clee Killer".
DOWNLOADS are available from http://www.beaconrcc.org.uk/audax/killerclee/index.html, assuming you did not receive the e-mail.

FURTHER ROADWORKS AFFECTING BOTH EVENTS
WOLVERLEY: Between the Lock Gates pub and roundabout.
Severn Trent realised that they had not yet dug up this piece of Worcestershire. So they have at the 11th hour, decided to close the road for two weeks without any real notice.
There is a footpath alongside the road, so you may need to push (outbound on the KK; returning on the FC2H). However, Roadworks.Org suggests, "Emergency Access to be maintained at all times". In other words, some space for vehicular traffic.

Thanks Philip & helpers and to Simon Turner for company today. Absolutely perfect event in all respects rounded off by a cracking bacon butty from Mr Regan. With the clear air after early rain the scenery in the middle section was most beautiful and I thought the modification to the final section was an improvement.
Eat cake before you're hungry
Well done to all riders, organisers and helpers today - another great Beacon event.

If anybody wants a jpg of a particular image, drop me a pm.
Phil, let me know if you want any for the audax magazine or promo purposes.

Thanks to Philip and all the volunteers for a great day. Given the weather on Friday and Sunday, all I can say is you must have friends in very high places . The Shower as we started was a nice touch just to remind people that they weren't there to have fun.
Thanks to Phil ,Ian and Steve for the company

REPORT ON THE KIDDERMINSTER KILLER AND FROM CLEE TO HEAVEN AUDAXES
The weather did not look promising at first, by my goodness it did improve. Riders remarked on the stunning crystal clear views provided along the hillier sections of the routes. Something that did not change was the cursing of returning riders, usually aimed at the Fiddler’s Elbow on the KK or the drag up to Shatterford on the Clee to Heaven. Neither hill comes at early stage in the event, by which time legs are fairly tired.

IMAGES OF KK RIDERS
Ian Taylor kindly dashed over to The Burway and was zapping away with his camera. Images of Kidderminster Killer riders can be found at http://tinyurl.com/pezeqt3 . Hopefully these will make their way into the AUK Magazine, Arrivee.
MANY THANKS GO TO:
• Belbroughton: Matt and Becki Regan; Jane Herrin, Oscar Hopkins, Charlie Skinner, Andy Craddock, Dave Cox, Ann and Dave Cole, Si Walker.

NEXT YEAR
Subject to necessary access permissions, I am considering an additional option for Clee to Heaven riders, a ride up each of the paved private roads to each the summits of Brown Clee. Be warned though, one is graded at 20% without a break. These will be optional for the more masochistic riders.
The provisional date for next year’s KK and Clee audaxes are: 20th August 2016.
SUNRISE AND SNOWDROP EXPRESS AUDAX
The ever popular Sunrise and Snowdrop Express, a 120km circuit of the Vale of Evesham, will open to entries on 1st October. With over 260 entries, this is usually sold out by early December. Do not leave entry too late. http://www.beaconrcc.org.uk/audax/express/index.html
MONTGOMERY MADNESS PERMANENT
This 200km ‘Perm’ audax can be ridden at any time of year. In effect, it follows very similar roads to The Kidderminster Killer but in the opposite direction. To enter: http://www.aukweb.net/perms/detail/PW01/
