Marshals and first aider required for circuit races 16 June

Post by laurence_cooley » 21 May 2015 13:26

We are running three circuit races at Stourport Sports Club on Tuesday 16 June. I need some marshals, people to help with the sign-on, and a first aider, so volunteers would be welcome. The first race is at 19:00, so ideally I want people who can arrive by 18:30 at the latest. The last race should be finished by around 21:00.

I chose the 16th as it's the same week as one of the Concorde road races (the next day), which I know several members who might otherwise be racing at Stourport are doing. It would be nice if people who plan to ride other round of the Stourport series could help out with running our event, as these races can only take place if local clubs put them on.

Please sign up to help below, and indicate if there is anything that you'd particularly like to do (a first aider is essential, otherwise we can't run the event).

I'd be happy to volunteer my services as a marshal.

I may be able to help, Laurence, but it depends on the work situation, which I probably won't be able to predict until the weekend.

If anybody volunteering needs a lift to the event I have spare seats and shall be leaving from the Northfield area around 17.45ish? Anybody know how long it takes to drive over there and best way to get there, I've only ever ridden to Stourport.

I'd guess about 45 minutes at that time of day, Paul. I'll post a reminder on the Facebook group later, because it would be good to have a few more volunteers just to make sure that everything goes smoothly. In the meantime, if anyone reading this is free next Tuesday evening, your help would be appreciated.

Big thanks to Neil Orchard, Stuart White, John Hunt, Matt Clegg, Steve Croggon, Alistair Hay, Paul Knox and Martin Davis for helping at tonight's circuit races. I found out that it's a lot more stressful organising races than taking part in them, but having such competent helpers made it a lot easier. Thanks also to John Ireson of Mamil Cycling for contributing to the fund for the prime in each of the races. No real incidents apart from a freak accident for Richard, which spelled the end of his breakaway and race.
