Volunteers needed - Beacon circuit races, Stourport, 9 May
Sorry to add yet another call for volunteers, but I'm organising a round of the Stourport Summer Series of circuit races at Stourport next Tuesday (9 May) and could do with some additional helpers. I already have a few people who are likely to be racing some rounds of the series signed up, and Pete is doing the first aid, but I could do with some extra marshals.
The first race is at 19:00 and the last starts at 20:20, so we should be all done shortly after 21:00. If you're able to help, please do post here or send me a message.

Hi Laurence,
I should be able to help out next Tuesday.
I should be able to make the first race, but it depends a bit on my wife getting back from work on time so I can have the car.
If you've got loads of marshalls already let me know and I'll probably race, if I make it. (though if you are short I will probably race Tudor Grange the following evening instead so don't worry about asking for the help).
Hope that makes some sort of sense!

Thanks to everyone who's volunteered. I've checked the circuit risk assessment and we need four marshals plus the first aider. Here's who I've got down to help so far:
Marshals: Dave Cole, James, Gavin/Gareth, Stuart White
First aider: Pete
Organiser: Me
Sign-on: Gary
So that's just about enough people, but it would be good to have a couple more in case anyone can't make it on the night. It's also useful to have someone to run start sheets up from the sign-on desk to start line, and someone to get teas and coffees and perhaps be a back-up finish-line judge.

I'll be leaving from Fort Dunlop around 5:30pm if that's of any help to anybody needing a lift.
Cheers,
Stu

Big thanks to Gary, Pete, Martin, Keith, Stuart, Dave Cole, Gavin, Gareth Powley, plus Dave Hughes and Barry (surprise appearances) for helping out tonight. It was a largely incident-free evening, apart from a minor crash in the first race and the fact that the commissaire was unaware that laps out for mechanicals are no longer allowed in circuit races. He told the riders that they could have laps out for genuine mechanicals, and Sod's law, the only rider who took advantage of this went on to win the 2/3/4 race. Several other riders complained and the rider who had taken the lap out, who was only 17, agreed that the win should go to the next rider to have finished - which I thought was pretty grown-up of him, so I gave both the official winner and him prize money. It's not our job to enforce the rules, although I should have corrected the commissaire when I heard him telling he riders, but everyone seemed to leave happy enough in the end.
Thought tonight went well and the most civilised looking 4th cat race I've seen (Dave may correct me).
Shame that the commisaire hadn't read the rule book as everyone else in the sport seems to know about the change. Understandably it caused some upset, but kudos to the kid for saying he was happy to be DQ'd and well handled at the end!
