New Kit Order Poll

Post by StuartWhite » 24 Jul 2020 00:02

Good Day,

It's that time of year again!
We're looking to place an order for end of summer into Autumn/Winter.

On this occasion we will be going trying Santini (supplier of Trek Segafredo, BOELS-DOLMANS and world champs jerseys) as they are offering web based ordering, along with more favourable lead times and achievable min qty's for women kit, whilst retaining the quality expected.

Initially, this will be a standalone order, with the view to becoming more regularly used.

What's the deal?

- We need to order 10 pieces per item to validate an order or 5 for women's cuts.

- Turn around is 6-8 weeks

- Payment can be made via an online portal.

There are numerous ranges, but in the interest of getting 10 units we will limit this to a few options.
As the delivery date will likely fall at the end of the summer into the beginning of Autumn, I think it would be advisable to consider long sleeve jerseys in this instance.

The artwork is currently being finalised, in the meantime I thought we could run a quick poll to gauge interest in items and give us an idea on what we're likely to hit MOQ's on.

My suggestion would be to offer jersey, bibs and long sleeve, all of which can also be available in a women's cut, plus a gilet if interest is there.

Assuming we place this order within 10 days or so, we'll likely be looking at delivery towards the end of September,

Sizes 2XS - 5XL

ALL COLOURS ARE BEACON RETRO, NO BLACK KIT

I'm happy to add further lines if the interest is there, but please make an effort to see if there is additional club interest in bonus items.
Cheers,

Stu

Hi Stuart

Thanks for doing this. Unfortunately, whilst I could do with a replacement pair of Beacon bibshorts, £75 is just too expensive for me to justify.

Thanks for organising this Stu! 'bout time I replaced my pin-holed jersey and wafer thin shorts for the sake of anyone riding near me

Hi Mariana, the two jersey styles are aimed at different things. The £52 Virtus jersey is a fairly relaxed fit (for cycling kit...) with very breathable fabrics designed to be comfortable on rides of any duration. The £90 Chrome is their racing jersey which uses a tighter fit but stretchier material to minimise flapping fabric and be as aerodynamic as possible. It's probably still very comfortable but marketed more at racing where every second/watt counts. I've posted the links below if you need more info. Hope that helps! :)

Stu, in the past, we've had the opportunity to view samples, which has been very useful for minimising the risk of situations where someone has ordered two or three garments (£100-£200-worth of kit) and it turns out to be a bit too big/small. However, I don't see how that can possibly work in the present circumstances: a load of people gathering and handing round garments to try on is hardly in keeping with distancing guidelines.

Any thoughts on virus-aware ways of minimising the risks that go with ordering blind?

By the way, I found it helpful to look at the product descriptions here:

Indeed, I have a selection of items, but not necessarily all required sizes. The handful of items I've tried come up very similar to Giordana in sizes, so that's probably a good indication of where you need to be.
Sizing guidelines can be seen below as well.

Cheers, Stu. Yes, that's helpful.

All I have to do now is decide whether to assume it'll be the same as the Giordana jersey that fits me or the other Giordana jersey that claims to be the same size, but isn't.

I own a Santini race-suit. Excellent quality gear. Sizing is 'Italian' and comparable to ALE, Castelli or Giordana.

Any more for any more? Currently looks as though we'll just be progressing with the long sleeve jersey.

This isn't an order, Neil, but rather a poll to find out which items are likely to meet minimum order quantities. Once the details of the items being included have been confirmed, people will be able to place individual orders for them on the Santini web site.

Hi All,

We've had the draft designs in which all look good, they're just mocking up the finals in our chosen garments, web shop will go live imminently.
This bit of extra time is a one off as we're using new supplier so please be patient whilst designs are finalised.
Make sure you've got your wonga ready when we go live, the less time we keep the webshop open, the quicker our completed order will go into manufacture.
Cheers,

Stu
