XXX Rated Audaxes from the Beacon

X-RATED BEACON AUDAXES FOR THE AUTUMN

If you have never heard of an x rated audax before, you have now. It is not some dodgy form of pornographic cycle event.

No thrills and no fuss, just turn up at a car park and head off once registered with your brevet card. At the end of the day, just return your brevet card by post to the organiser or e-mail electronic proofs of passage. With many audaxes disrupted (including our Autumn Audax) and other organisers unable to operate their events, we have decided to fill the void. Dates are to be confirmed with AUK but they are keen for us to run the events. They are still great routes and you will enjoy the day.

Montgomery Madness goes Calendar

Many will know this event as a permanent audax. This is a toughie and not to be underestimated. At 200km with 3,000m of ascent, it is very similar to The Kidderminster Killer so expect achy legs after a long day out over the wonderful Stretton Hills. Lights will be very useful. Free controls: Bewdley start and finish, Ludlow, Knighton, Church Stretton, plus two info controls. The date is tbc, but it will hopefully run before the clocks change in October.

Salt and Cotswold

A brand new route starting from Droitwich in November. Certainly a lot easier than the Monty Madness. Enjoy the spectacular colours of full autumn. Free controls: Droitwich start/finish; Shipston on Stour; Witney; Tewkesbury, plus three info controls.

Social distancing Stuff

AUK have established new criteria for ensuring that events are legal and socially distanced. As such, the start time will spread out of a period and we will merely record your start time. There will be no mass start and riders will be requested to ride in groups of no more than six. 'Free controls' will allow riders to choose their cafes or shops and avoid congregation.

Validation of rides

There will be no controller at the finish as is customary with x rated events. Either send your brevet card in the post to the organiser once completed or even better, just send a copy of your GPS track file and/or selfies. If available by the autumn, the new electronic brevet card app may also be available.

Entry

I will post the links here once they are live. The estimated event fee is £4.
