Annual Dinner 2020 and 2021

Post by George » 24 Sep 2020 11:13

Regrettably, the 2020 Annual Dinner and Prize Presentation has been cancelled. The Club Committee and Dinner Committee waited as long as possible before taking this decision, in the hope that circumstances might change. However, large social gatherings currently remain prohibited and there is no prospect of the situation changing in time for us to organise the event.

Although it hasn't yet been discussed at Committee level yet, I anticipate that the club will soon be looking at alternative ways of celebrating trophy winners. Suggestions on that front are welcome.

Next year is the club's 75th anniversary. It was therefore already the intention that the 2021 Annual Dinner should be a special event. Having been obliged to cancel this year's Dinner, everyone is more determined than ever that that should be the case. We'll be going all out to get a high-profile guest speaker and celebrating our rich history in various ways. It would be great to have a big turnout and a lively atmosphere. So, although it's a long way off, please put it in your diary now! The date we have pencilled in is 27 November 2021, but that's currently tentative, because much depends on the availability of the venue and speaker. Watch this space for updates. In the meantime, if you've got any ideas about things that would make the 2021 Dinner extra special, please post here or have a chat with someone on the Dinner Committee (Gemma, Neil O, Helen, Keith, Dave Cole, me).
