Judith Shipway RIP

Post by David Cole » 06 Sep 2021 10:35

Judith Shipway wife of our ex-President Trevor Shipway has died in the last few days. Judy was a very popular Beacon member. She supported Trevor in his role as President, and was involved in the organisation of the Janet Kelly Time Trial as well as catering for other club events. Judy was an active participant in organising club dinners for many years. Judy loved having a good time, she was a great dancer. She enjoyed club weekends away and the annual trips to Majorca. In the last few years she has been living with dementia.
We will remember Judy fondly and our thoughts are with Judy's family at this sad time.

Sad news. A strong and forthright woman, but a woman with a real passion for life who always had time for others. It was very sad to see dementia dim the light within years before the body that hosted it finally succumbed.

Judy's funeral will be on 5th October @ 1:15 at Redditch Crematorium. If you indicate below that you intend to go, I will send some ideas of numbers to the family. You will b e more than welcome on the day whether you indicate or not. It would be nice to have a sizeable contingent to celebrate her passing. It may not have had a happy conclusion but I think her life's journey was blessed, not least by being a partner to Trevor.

Dave, I'd like to come if it's convenient for the family. However, if space is limited, I would not want to deny a place to a relative or close friend.

Cheers George, noted. I don't think that space or numbers are an issue.

I spoke to Oscar at the weekend. He is apparently being taken to the funeral by John Porter. I would expect that the family are in direct contact with John and therefore already know, but thought I'd mention it anyway.
