BEACON FIRST AID COURSE - FREE TO REGULAR BEACON VOLUNTEERS

Post by WorcsPhil » 24 Feb 2022 16:34

Hi,

Beacon have organised a First Aid Course, at which all people who attend will be a qualified first aider on successful completion. This course is called 'Emergency First Aid at Work' and will be tailored towards cycling groups so will include things like CPR, choking incidents and cuts etc. We have a qualified teacher sorted to lead this, and more info is available on this course here:
https://www.rnctraining.co.uk/courses/f ... id-at-work

This is a 6-hour course, spread over two evenings, namely Thursday 24th March and Thursday 31st March, both 5-8pm at Northfield Baptist Church. Beacon RCC will 100% subsidise the cost of this as we recognise the importance of having qualified first aiders at our events - we can only take 12 people on this course, and we therefore invite people to put themselves forward. Priority will obviously be given to those who regularly volunteer for Beacon events and/or lead rides consistently, and if we are over-subscribed, we'll run a ballot.

So if you want to be considered, then please check the dates and times to make sure you are available on BOTH nights...you need to complete the whole 6-hour course, and post below or get back to me personally via any method, even pigeon.

ONE SPACE LEFT!!! Signed up so far are:

Phil Richards
Helen Jamieson
Mariana Sorrill
Paul Balfe
Nick Shenton
Andy Wrightson
Stuart Jones
Pete Warwick
George Barker
Cedric Gioan
Kyle Gatier

Thanks

Phil

Count me in, Phil. Suddenly seems like a topic one might want to know a little about.

OK, count me in. Just hoping that this will not jinx my rides.
Already hard enough to change a tube or deal with a broken chain fast and successfully, wouldn't like to have to deal with blood or broken bones.
But forewarned is forearmed

There is still one place left on this first aid course. We ideally need to fill it, so if you’re wavering, stop wavering and sign up… details are at the top of this thread, but you do need to be available for both sessions to become accredited.

If any of the names people above are now not available, please let me know ASAP

I just don't know, Paul. You could give them a ring, but chances are you can bring your bike into the hall...but don't take this as advice

Sooooo...

I have tested positive today and despite feeling 95%+ I wont be coming along to share the love this evening! If there is a way of joining remotely and completing the course I am all ears; maybe something to ask Richard on arrival?
