Watching the TdF coverage on Saturday. There was footage from a motorbike ( presumably) showing the various display pages the riders were using on their head units, mostly but not all Garmins. Most had the usual watts, zones etc. Someone using a 1030 or similar, had a really cool rotary display a bit like a rev counter on a car.
What I was surprised to see was someone using the map page. In the peloton with a dozen cars and motorbikes in front . Really ! What am I missing?

Re: Garmin display
Apparently it's quite common for riders to have a map displayed. At a guess, I'd say it's so they know in advance where tight bends and junctions are.
