In this, one, George B by name has, here I quote, averaged over 41 mph on the South Circular near Barnes.

I think the guy using the protractor on Jenkin road (2nd part, near bottom of page) might have misinterpreted the percentages used in gradients on roads (unless I have). Isn't a angle of 30 degrees indicative of a hill at 1 in 1.732 (sq root of 3), or about 58%?? If so that's just ridiculous.
PS I don't think the angle's anywhere near 30 degrees. Closer to 20 or about 1 in 3, as he actually states. (Disclaimer - all maths done in my head; I can't be bothered with a calculator or protractor.)
