Hi there, not too sure if Facebook or email best way to reach you so following up on an email we sent you recently. We wanted to let you know about an opportunity for Beacon Roads Cycling Club to be involved in a unique charity cycle ride, being held to support 6 of our best known children’s hospitals including Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
Consisting of 5 individual 100 miles stages, clubs can be represented by individual club members as well as teams of 4.
By way of background, my husband and I set up the charity, Thinking of Oscar, after the sudden and unexpected death of our gorgeous little boy, Oscar. The money that we raise as a result of the cycle ride will be shared amongst all of the hospitals involved and will enable us to invest in a whole range of different technologies which will make it easier to diagnose an unwell child quickly, speed up their treatment and recovery or reduce their fear or stress whilst they’re in hospital. Ultimately our dream is that by investing in technology for child health we will be able to save lives.
We will set off from Oxford on Wednesday 12th June, visiting Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester, Sheffield and London in turn over the next five days, returning to Oxfordshire’s Blenheim Palace on Sunday 16th June. You can find out further detail about our spectacular route at www.too500.co.uk but the stage most likely to appeal to your riders will be Day 1 which finishes in Stafford having stopped to visit Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
We are offering selected clubs a special team rate of £160 for 4 places on 1 day (circa 100 mile) of the ride plus a team fundraising target of £1500, or individually the day ride cost is £50 with a requested individual fundraising amount of £500. Alternatively if you would prefer a bigger challenge then we have limited spots remaining for the full 5 day ride. In return for your participation we would happily send a press release on your behalf to your local newspaper and create plenty of photo opportunities for you!
Do let us know what you think, we would love to have you involved!
With thanks, Hannah, Oscar’s Mum
