Inter - club challenge 14th July

A date for your diaries. The inaugural Beacon RCC vs Halesowen A&CC inter-club track challenge will be taking place on 14th July. This is a great opportunity for riders to race for the club. The final programme has yet to be put together, but it is envisaged that it will showcase events not typically seen on Friday Night Track League – especially team events such as the team sprint and pursuit. I know we’ve some riders who I’m sure would relish the chance to have a go at the pursuit. Of course no race meeting would be complete without a scratch. Please post here – who’s up for it? What discipline(s) would you be interested in having a go at? Even if you’re not racing if it is a fine afternoon why not bring a picnic and come and cheer on the green white and red jerseys!

I should be up for it.

Team sprint excites me and the bonus being that we could field a womens team too! we could put out a strong pursuit team if we got a couple of testers across too?

Id like to do this, would me having done the club track championships last year give me enough experience to do this or would I need to be fully track qualified?

thanks

I’d suggest trying to get on to an accreditation scheme like at Derby for extra experience. I’m also aiming to do a session in May for newer riders/those racing club or inter champs

I would agree with Gav that a full BC accreditation as done at Derby or Manchester is best, goes on your license.

The minimum for racing at Halesowen would be to do one of their own accreditation sessions run prior to FNTL. I think it's a requirement of BC insurance that track riders are accredited in some way., this can be based on demonstrated experience.

At our own track day we have no requirement ( and consequently no insurance! ), but the small numbers and large track make it pretty safe. On this particular event I can't imagine other clubs would be that happy at mass start events were riders are not accredited but aren't aware of what has been agreed at this point.

Dan - check out Newport as well for accreditation - depending on how easy it is for you to get there it’s a much simpler process to get accredited - only one official 2 hour session (think you would maybe need to go to one drop in or something before but nothing more onerous than that). You can do drop in at Newport with no accreditation - I’ve been riding there for 2 years now and just got accredited last week :D

Fantastic - thanks to all volunteers. What events would you like me to pitch for? Who would be up for the team pursuit. Totally agree that you'd want to go for BC track accreditation. If you can't make Newport Manchester or Derby, Halesowen have an accreditation session April 4, 7pm.

Inter club Challenge. I've just been e -mailed by HA&CC to say that they've switched the date of the inter-club Challenge to the 21st July. I'm working away that day  . Thoughts?
