If you're racing the club track champs please could you book in asap? This would really help me plan the programme. Thanks. Beacon RCC Track Championships 2021 Sat, 26 Jun 2021 12:00 Halesowen. https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/beacon-r ... 1364028885

Hi Ade,

I've registered for this - hope I'm not too late. I've never done any track riding before so I'll attend the training session. I have selected bike hire as well, so I will just bring myself, Lycra and SPD-SLs? Looking forward to it! Thank you - Lewis

I'm sure you'll love it Lewis.
I'll be heading to the Fixed Wheel Brewery afterwards for a pint or 2 and everyone is welcome.

Good idea! HA&CC hire bikes are supplied with toe clips & straps. They do not allow pedals to be swapped unfortunately.

BEACON RCC TRACK CHAMPIONSHIPS 2021
Dear Riders and Parents.
I am really looking forward to Saturday for the club track champs. I really love the way this event brings together riders – both young and young at heart. In current circumstances there is a lot of information to give out to make sure everyone has a good time and stays safe. If we stick to the guidelines though, it will be a great afternoon again. As I’m sure you appreciate is just that this year there are a few more things to think about. There are a couple of videos too. Please take time to look though the info & if you’ve any questions, please drop me a line on academy@beaconrcc.org.uk

Academy on the start line 2019
Please arrive in good time
The coaching session starts at 12. I would like to complete signing on before coaching starts so that we can make full use of our track time.
For younger riders I have some kit available - though unfortunately not enough for each rider. It has not been previously worn. Items are still in their bags which have not been touched. We have the use of changing facilities.
The coaching session will be run by Gavin who is a qualified L3 track coach.
What races will there be?
For younger riders here’s a video taken at Halesowen showing younger riders on a race night
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KiEaDNtVLQU
Parents, we won’t start so high up the banking but note how the pushers clear the track immediately.
Adult/ youth riders will begin with a 200m time trial.

Youths in action 2019 Champs
Academy riders will do a 100m time trial staying low on the track. Academy races will take turns with adult/youth races. They will be handicapped with a distance advantage for the slower 200m competitors.
For adult riders, the times for the 200m will decide places in the Match sprint. This is run on a knockout basis.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQ4sa1R8ZDk
Youth riders will race three derney pursuits. The younger rider will be paced by an adult rider for the first two of three laps.
For adult riders, the times for the 200m will also decide places for the 8 lap Hare and hounds. What’s that? Basically, a scratch race – see below. But the fastest 200m competitors will be the ‘hounds’ and start ½ Lap behind. Will the hares get organised and stay away?
The final event for the adults will be the scratch race – distance TBC.

What does ‘signing on’ mean?
When racing, riders agree to the rules. These are club championships, but we will run them by British Cycling rules. The full declaration is at the end. Academy riders’ parents will also sign. When you have signed on, you collect your race numbers which can be pinned on.

Beacon Corner at Friday Night Track League
What should I bring?
A bike in good working order, helmet, and gloves. If you are borrowing a bike off Halesowen, you need sanitising wipes to wipe the bike down. Please supply your own. You should avoid sharing equipment. Please bring your own pen to sign on.
What about food & drink?
We’re there all afternoon, so why not bring a picnic? The café will be open, and it will have a sink and kettle. Please bring your own tea/coffee & cups. Please wipe down the kettle and surfaces after use. We can’t share food though.

Beacon Legend Trevor Bull on the front. Salford Park 1965
What about spectators?
We can have a maximum of 30 people who must always agree to socially distance before, during and after the racing.
What if it is wet?
I will make a track inspection at 10 a.m. If it is wet, we will cancel. You will be notified by the Eventbrite email system and this message will also be posted on the club message board & Facebook.
How do we stay covid safe?
Check NHS guidance about what symptoms of Covid are.
Do not come to the event if you have symptoms.
Please bring your own hand sanitiser and use it after touching surfaces – e.g., the gate.
Please stick to 2m social distancing with other households whilst not competing.
Please wear a mask indoors (changing rooms/ toilets) and stich to 2m social distancing.
If you experience symptoms – or if your child does – after the event you need to report this to academy@beaconrcc.org.uk for contact tracing purposes.
What is the order of events?
Event Riders Distance
1 Time trail Adults/Youth 200m
2 Time trail Academy 100m
3 Match sprint 1 Adults 800m
4 Derney Pursuit 1 Youth 1200m
5 Match sprint 2 Adults 800m

See you there!
All the best,
Ade
