Does anyone remember staying at the Malt House which was a YH in the 1950-65 era?

And also other long defunct hostels like Clent,Clifton on Teme,Broome etc..

The basement of my building at work holds the YHA archives. I must set some time aside to view their records of past hostels. Many of the recent closures are down to budget hotels, differing public tastes, YHA's reducing number of endowments and their ever increasing costs overnight stays. This is quite sad considering the network they used to possess. I once walked southern Shropshire staying exclusively in YHAs, that would now be impossible.

You mention Broome, is that the Broome near Hagley or Bidford?
