Roller racing

Post by Philmondo » 05 Dec 2013 19:20

I attended a W. Mids Police CC roller racing event last night at Tally Ho. It was good fun and an excellent evening, though having had 3 weeks off the bike my 'souplesse' was somewhat lacking. Paul Prince did a great job of facilitating the event with rollers, bikes, electronic equipment etc.

The evening awoke a long dormant memory of roller racing with the Beacon sometime around the late Eighties. I think it might have been in the Pastoral Centre, but I can't remember too much about it. Can anyone recall those events?
I can gather all the news I need on the weather report.

Roger Shayes and Tony Webb may remember Beacon roller racing in the 60s, especially a 24 hr record attempt in a shop window in central Birmingham on St Patrick's night. You can imagine the interest shown by well oiled Irish revellers!

We had one session at the Community Centre in Rubery in the 90's I think when Wally was organising events.
