Just an advance word of warning if anyone is intending to take a club run along here. It is my understanding that next week (maybe the week after?) the entire lane will be top dressed with chippings.
Which is a real shame because at the moment it is a decent smooth surface?

Sooner than I thought, advance signs are up and the work is scheduled to start tomorrow Friday 17th June for three days.

As a quick note, WCC have been top-dressing at weekends too, so the three days may also include Saturday and Sunday.

One to avoid then...
Why they are top dressing it is strange to me...the surface is actually good right now, it's like they are intentionally ruining it. Unless they put a cheap, non wearing surface on it and now need to dress it lest it decay.

Work finally started today on the entire length of Flying Horse Lane and Ditchford Bank Lane, so wave goodbye to what was a pretty decent surface before.

I rode along FH Lane just before the surface dressing was scheduled to start. The surface was perfect. Setting aside the whole question of whether surface dressing is an appropriate way to patch up an ageing road, why on earth squander valuable resources fixing a road that 'ain't broke'?
