Strensham

Just noticed that it looks from the OS map as if it's possible to cross the Avon on foot at the Weirs at Strensham. Has anyone on this MB ever done so? What's it like? Worth getting off and walking for a couple of hundred metres for a scenic interlude and to cut out the hairpin up to Defford and back down to Eckington?

That's really interesting George and certainly worth a look.

When l worked for Severn Trent I regularly used to drive down that lane as there is a pumping station on the left right by where the '92' is on the map. I was told that there was no way across but I never ever checked and maybe the local I asked assumed I meant by car?

I haven't tried it George but a bit of googling suggests it's dependent on being able to use the strensham lock swing bridge and that this might not always be possible.

Somebody on the Snowdrop Express once claimed to have use that cut to avoid the route via Defford.
