Clent Incident 14/06/2017 -

Post by 50+ » 15 Jun 2017 08:06

Last night (14/06/2017) I was cycling down st kenelms clent and had just finished the decent when a large 4x4 coming the opposite direction make a deliberate attempt to knock me of my bike. He swerved onto my side road as I was emergency braking I could see him gesturing angrily towards me.

It was a black range rover and the Reg began BT15

Im posting this on here, as strikes me as someone stupid enough to play stupid games and was clearly anti cyclist - will probably pull this sort of stunt again. Take care..

Bloody marvellous, a shark in the local swimming pool. Advert for on-bike cameras?

That was my thought - if only I had a damm camera. But don't think the battery life is quite there yet unless you're going to pay £200+ ...which I don't have..

I was assaulted by a car driver at this location some years ago, in a large silver 4x4. I sped off too quickly to obtain the registration number. Despite reservations on whether the Police could deal with the matter, I reported the matter and was subsequently interviewed. Whilst they admitted that little could be done, they were insistent that reporting the matter was the correct course of action in case of any repeat instances.

I hope that you have reported the matter to the Police in case of similar occurrences in the locality.

Why am I not surprised at this. From long experience there are two types of vehicles that I always try to avoid.

1/ Black Range Rovers particularly if they have darken windows.
2/ 30 something women in large BMWs.
As I have said I have found that there is a fair chance that the person behind the wheel is a complete pillock.

I expect that there are some who would disagree. All I can say to that is drive from Portsmouth to the Midlands using the M127/M3/A34 in the early evening as we do on regular basis.

Anyhow I'm pleased (obviously) that there was serious consequences, keep safe.

Philip,
I agree absolutely with you the only problem is that nothing is done until some poor innocent sod is killed.

That sadly could well be the case. In the instances of malicious driving being captured on camera, previous reports may be taken into account. Once case in point happened last year: http://road.cc/content/news/119539-wilt ... goes-viral

If you have any recollection of the rest of the registration plate, it's worth using https://www.gov.uk/get-vehicle-information-from-dvla to check. I've used it before when I had a couple of subtly different combinations of letters and numbers in my memory, and it helped me work out which one was correct.

Definitely should report all such incidents although I've not always well done for getting half the reg. A cycliq fly six is great and can be got for c£90 online. Battery life is v good as is the light. Only rear facing though, I'm saving up for fly12 front as the fly6 is so good.
